2000Lightnings
Hi y'all..I'm so excited that I found this sight. I went on a rampage trying to find any information on the 2000 Lightnings and their production. I know they were supposed to start Dec. 6th, but the last I heard, there was a material hold. Has anyone heard any news? I'm trying my hardest to be patient. I'm waiting on my Red Lightning to come in. Thanks to you guys, my patients is now non-existent. Hearing all of this talk about these GREAT TRUCKS has made me unbearable. Old GreenBeans' (77 F150)transmission is about to go south. Any news would be greatly appreciated.
I think it was sal that replied to an earlier post that they were short starters, and production was getting pushed back a couple of weeks. Just relying on my memory so don't take it as gospel.

Hey guys,..Thank you so much for responding..my dealer hasn't had any info for me at all and is not returning my calls...I looked back through some of the boards and someone had said March...That kinda freaked me out.
Thanks again

I also have a 2000 Lightning on order. I called SVT this week and asked when production was to begin. There answer early Feb 2000 with deliveries to begin the end of Feb or early Mar. According to the people at SVT deliveries will be made to SVT dealers based on some magical priority basis, not based on the customers order date. First to order does not mean first to receive. What a way of doing business since my order has been in since 16 Aug 99 and have a copy of the dealership order confirmatiom sheet from Ford. Have to wait for my birthday present and at my age you would think birthday presents would not be high on "can't wait" list. So I will stomp my feet and fuss until I get the new toy for the old boy :-(
Oh YES!!!!! I've heard all that in the past haven't you guys that have yours already. Masterloggie take a deep breath and chill your going to get very impatient waiting. Read my profile, ITS WORTH the wait. Once they start shipping them you still may have to wait a month or 2 to get yours. My saleman was more than willing to listen to me week after week. We talked alot and he was real nice about it.

Masterloggie, there is no rhyme or reason to it. mine took 8 months, while SVT54SC's took less than 4. and i was there while they ordered it. actually they already had them on order with all options, and changed colors as people ordered them.

To ease the wait (yea...right), do like I did and order the Bburago 1/18 scale '99.5 Lightning 'til you get your 1/1 scale. You'll just wait a week or two for it. I'm suppose to get mine on the 20th (from Bburago, that is). I wonder why it doesn't come in white? After all, isn't it the best color around (heh...heh)?
WiteSVTLite: Too old for models now. I am t the point in my life where only the real thing satisfies my need and greed. Reaching the half century mark tomorrow and need a little muscle car accelaration again. Gave up the fast cars for a fast woman who has been with me for almost 27 years. However, I did test drive a 99.5 Lightning this summer and got hooked. Not only did it remind me of the days of my youth, but the days of flying the F-4. Sheer pin you back in the seat acceleration. I did not go for a stealth look, but had to go for the "Red" Streak :-) My looks want get me anywhere these days, but a Red Lightning will. Already got my golfing buddies taking numbers for a wild ride.

You guys are driving me nuts. After reading these posts, you forced me to call my dealer and find out if there is any info on when my L will arrive. Of course the guy I needed to talk to wasn't in. I ordered a red 00 L 3 weeks ago and I thought it would not be a difficult wait till the estimated "Spring" delivery date they initially told me. After ordering a 00 L, I find this excellent message board and now I have the Lightning fever and cannot hardly wait to get mine. I too need to chill out and wait. Argh!

it is worth the wait.If you noticed, were not talking about racing trucks, because we all know no trucks except for the syclone can even come close. were talking about smokin the fastest production CARS ever built or at least staying with them!!!!!!!! nothing is better than seeing a yuppie pull up in his nissan or his overpriced sports car giving YOU the thumbs down. and in the end all you see is coffee spilled all over his briefcase and the look of disbelief in his face cause he just got SMOKED by the something that in his eyes is supposed to plow snow! well wake up america cause the lightning is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Masterloggie,
You an old Phantom driver? I never had the pleasure but did manage to wrangle my way into the back seat of an A-5 (RA-5C, actually) a couple of times. Totally awesome and you're right; the Lightning does recall those memories.

I'm dying here. I have to put Greenbean (77F150) in the shop to get a grocery list amount of work done on it now that delivery on the "L" will be in Feb. And to think...In October I sold my '99 GT so I could save money for the new truck. I have no regrets...I know the "L" will be well worth the wait. I just didn't plan on the untimely demise of the Greenbean....Anyone know of a mechanic that can actually work on an old truck in North Houston?
