not much of a stretch, since ours are at about 400hp right now, most are under 6sec and under 14 in 1/4, a little more boost and some fine tuning (chip) will get ya 450.

The lightnings now are at 360hp. And yes, if they raise the boost and do some chip work, you can achieve 450hp!

mine is at 329rwhp, some have dyno'ed as high as 340rwhp, which put them in the 400 fly hp range, the 360hp advertised is as laughable as the 6.2-6.4 0-60 and the 14.6 1/4 mile times advertised. some guys are getting into the 13's right out of the showroom floor, before the motor even gets a chance to loosen up.

OK....
So it's not much of a strech, but it makes for a good starting point as a factory number, and will probably be higher than that in the real world. It's suppose to be a 5.4 4V. That alone will be a bit if improvement.

i'm sure they will have to make some improvements, to keep us lightning junkies ordering. in the ford news on the f-150 front (home) page, didn't is say they rec'd 24000 5.4l lightning engines for the 6yr x 4000per yr run? but i'm sure they could rework some for a 4v.

Question

Just a passing thought.

I looked at how I might replace the plugs on my Lightning with the SOHC motor.

Can you imagine doing that on the DOHC variant? I still haven't found the # 4 and #8 plugs yet!

I believe that ford has a contract for the 24,000 engines, not actually received them. I'm sure there can be some changes down the line, either planned or unplanned.

Has anyone else heard about SVT® offering through their accessories department mask and vehicle cover for the 99.5 Lightning? I have not heard the timing for this or anything concerning the specific designs available (ex. colors or embroidering). I do believe that Covercraft ® will be the manufacturer.

Hey Shule,

In your signature it says you have a K&N Filter on your 99.5. Where did you get it and what is the part number? I saw elsewhere on this list of a possible compatibility concern between the K&N oil and the supercharger. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Red face

Joe -
I have placed that air filter accessory mistakenly on my profile for my ‘99.5 Lightning. I had ordered this oil filter and had to cancel the order because of it being a different part then what is stated in the owner’s manual. It seems like it may be 6-8 weeks before K&N Engineering comes out with an air filter for the ‘99.5 Lightning’s. Now as far as problems associated with using a K&N oil filter, the only issue I believe would be over oiling the filter. Over oiling could possibly cause problems with your mass air sensor.

Profile will be corrected, thanks.

OK, let's see-

overhead console - yes

am/fm radio with single CD - I've got the 6-disc changer, but I would like one on the dash too.

color keyed mirrors - mine are already black, but the truck is black.

new color: silver - sure, then maybe I won't have to wash it every other day.

rear tinted glass with sliding windows - Yes! Why are S/C's typically tinted and regular cabs not?

Where do I sign?

If anybody has a tape of the TNN show that they did on the 99 SVT Lighting I would gladly pay all associated cost to get a copy. My RED 99 Lighting was delivered on the 14 July. My wife drove it yesterday I think she is going to trade in her 97 4 Runner in for a 2000 Black Lighting.
