QA1's Squealing
Has anyone else had this problem? One of my rear QA1 shocks is squealing/squeaking very loud under any compression movement. I looked but there are no wear marks or anything on the shaft. I tried a little lube on the shaft too, but that didn't help. I've also tried a couple of different settings and it seems to do it on any of them.

Man, that is my name on 3 other boards... Looked weird... I would PM ruslow on NLOC...

I've heard the QA1's are rebuildable? Is this something that has to be sent back to the factory to be done? My thinking is that maybe I can dissasemble them to find out what's wrong? |
They really are NOT user serviceable unless you have the special fluid and some other items that only QA sells.cost last time to have them done was 65.00 per shock, but can be revalved for like 2 bucks more.As long as the hard parts are servicable not to bad.Squeeck more than likely is inside.you can spray alittle WD on the shaft and drive it to see if it does go away.Stan

Mine would squeak until I changed the shock mounts from the fixed ones to the eyelet ones... something about the angle of it, it seems.

I'll try some WD40, the stuff I used was considerably thicker and probably won't get past the shaft wiper. So I take it that am I better off sending them off to get reworked than attempting to do it myself? Is $65 for just parts or to send them off to be serviced? One thing I'm worried about, being as loud as it is, it is very possible that more than just simple seals and wear parts are going to need replacing. |
