Header bolt's, stock or other?
 

Gonna put on my JDM Kook's Long Tube's on one of these weekends. What has everyone been using?

I would think the stock stud and nut combo would work just fine.

Steve we carry grade 8 bolts for those and thats definatley what you would want, did you order the headers with cats and midpipes but not get any? The stock studs and nuts will be a real pain in the rear to put on!

I bought the Header's and Mid-Pipes from you guy's back at WFC6 along with my traction bars. I'm finally getting around to get them done this month.

Work, school, house..... You know.

I did a long tube install on my buddies 96' Mustang Gt and we reused the studs and got new Ford nuts. Worked like a champ.

So, I would not see why you could not reuse the stock setup.....

Oh, no I lost the header bolt's some where in the move.

I like these. Never loosen up and start leaking.

I actually use some of each since I had already bought the bolts, but primarily the bolts. While you are a lot less likely to cross thread a fastener if you stay with stock stud and nut combo, not sure the studs will allow you to get the header rotated into place on the passenger side, things are tight over there. If using bolts, be sure to pre-install gaskets and lower row of studs tightening them up ~1/2 way in. Be sure to clean bolt or stud threads, apply some moly grease or anti-seize and make sure you thread the fastener in at least three or four turns before touching it with a wrench. Do not force it, failure to do so will generally get you a crossthreaded fastener, same as with coil pack bolts. The pitch is so fine on these fasteners that they are VERY easy to cross thread.

After buying a short 1/4" drive 10mm swivel socket, I can tighten all fasteners with ratchet and long extensions. Have used a swivel head gear ratcheting wrench to good advantage on one or two of the bottom row. Get experienced help if you can, the job goes a lot quicker after you have done it a few times.

Have not had a problem with fasteners loosening. I prefer the Ultra Seal Mr. Gasket or replacement Fel-Pro gaskets, they seal better than the paper gaskets. Copper gaskets are worthless at sealing, but do not burn for whatever that is worth.
