What's a safe wattage for fog bulbs?

Well, I got my Sylvania HID kit in and I LOVE them, but now my fog lights look about as yellow/orange as a chain smoker with a mouth full of cheetos.

I have seen 9005 "hyper white" bulbs ranging from 55 watts to 100 watts. Obviously I'd like to go with the brightest possible, but not at the risk of cracking a lense or melting a wiring harness. Any recommendations? My L is an 03' if that makes a diff.

Thanks gang.

add another HID set to match your hid head lights
since hid runs around 35 watts only

No problem...

I run HID Fogs (35W) and they are fine. Stock lights are I believe 30W.

I had the exact same problem, and I think you are better off with HIDs vs the hyperwhites, since most of the "hyper" bulbs are pretty high wattage.

and I also seem many aftermarket high wattage bulbs burn the plugs up due to the wattages are just way too high and melts the plugs up................

HID foglight kits? Wasn't aware we had that as an option. Anyone have a Part number or link?

Thanks!

Robert Johnson can probably tell you the part number.

HID kit

for 2001+ trucks, it's just a stock 9005 bulb.

I used the kit from www.hidkits.com , but it appears they are down.

Basically any HID kit for a 9005 should work.

My Sylvanias (9005) are 55 W ... They work great!!!

Dont use 100wt bulbs i found out the hard way. The little cone in front of the bulb in the fog light turned blueish red from the heat and now it looks like crap. But luckly i planed on replacing mine because of the cracks in them from rocks.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll start looking into some HID replacement. I love the white light they kick out.

HID's are bad for fogs because HID lights have very bad glare in fog and rain, all the light they put out is gonna get kicked right back at you.

I have 100 watt yellow fogs, they cut through fog great, and since 03's don't have the surround on the bulb there is nothing to overheat. I made a whole new wiring harness for it that plugs into the stock connector and uses that as a trigger for the relay. I can make you one too
