Angry ******* tranny #7 less than 50 miles already problems

Well herer we go i installed the tranny yesterday, weather was bad so couldnt really get on it till today. Well was going about 25 and made it downshift, I noticed right ayay it wasnt fully engaging then at 5 grand it locked in and quiockly shifted but as soon as it went into 2nd and the rps went back down to 3 grand it slipped again, now at normal driving 1/2 throttle or less it shifts nicley and seems to be fully engaged??? any opinions could there be a harness loose of mabe the filter has fallen off in transportation i dunno im totaly stumped. there are no thrown engine codes either? so whats up anyone???

What happend to the old trans? Did you flush the cooler? replace the aux cooler? Install an inline filter?

The reason i ask if the cooler was not flush and the aux replaced and a filter installed you could have pushed crap from the old trans into your new ones and cause valves to stick in the valve body. Also if these items were not flushed and replaced you could have a restriction in the cooler line causing poor flow.

Does it only do it in one specific gear?

Did I read your thread topic right? Seven Trannies....!!!!...Holy crap, your a patient man. I would have given it up at number 3 or 4.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you go through so many transmissions?

ST.ELMO'SFIRE probably does a lot of mountain climbing with his Lightning. There are some serious hills and mountains up Charlottesville way. Brakes and Transmissions don't seem to live long in that area. However, seven does seem a bit excessive.

yea i anted to but its not like you can just sell or trade in a truck without a trannie, and why would ford warentee a modded truck with theese problems, as far as why that cant be answered no one knows but i and well know trannie builder are working to find out what it is.

Mountians are not a factor an never have been since because i neve go up them where i live i dont need to. since july 4th 2003 o today i have been through 7 tranies the y average out to last about 1200 miles eace, however the first 6 were the original trans just rebuilt the latest trans is a totaly difrent case and all
but i still shouldnt have problms with it right off the start like this.

If your have gone through 7 transmission I think it is safe to bet you have other problems other then the transmissions. You mentioned in one of your post about being modded. That is where you need to look, as I am thinking your mods are killing your transmissions.

I could see someone going through 2 transmissions in a year or so and “maybe” consider that just bad luck with faulty transmission but no way is anybody unlucky enough and statistics will tell you no one person could ever get stuck with 7 bad transmissions.

Before you install another transmission you need to get with an expert and insure the next transmission will hold up to what ever mods you have…

No way ya think,,, i figured that out a while agao so what mods could it be, my guess it is either the chip?? which was suposedly reprogramed to accomidate the transmission or its something in the wiring thoes are my best guesses
my mods are listed below rwhp is in the 390 range

now for an update i went home today droped the pan filter was on and all conectios from the harness were ok, now that doesnt mean there isnt something wrong with the harness, but monday morning i wall have either jlp or sal " which ever one can deliver the goods the fastest" to express me one new chip which if that still doesnt work would leave either the ecu or the harness, upon i would then take it to the ford garage to check that out again cus the suposedly already did that to.

however once the tranny was drained i replaced the external filter even though it looked good and there was a little debris on the magnet but i tossed that up to to some of what was left in the converter and to waht was lost when it was slipping, but is was so minnimal i wasnt worried about it, luckly i borrowed my fathers truck in the meantime till i can get tis fixed.

P.S. I would especialy like to thank gregg evans for sticking with me through this entire thing, he has been verry hepfyl and more than generous THANK YOU!

If you are going through that many transmissions something else is definately wrong. I had a similar problem that turned out to be a melted spot in the external harness near the EGR.
Anything is possible and it's always the last thing you fix that cures it

Still sounds like you have trash running through your system. Have you tried checking flow rate through your cooler or having your cooler cleaned?
Bryan
