Running 12's

If you could help im wanting to run low 12's on slicks. I have a 99 lightning with 4# lower pulley, Jlp Ram air, Diablo tunner, boost bypass,90mm Mass air, Jlp power pipe. What else do i need. my best time is 13.156 with a 1.96 short time. The run was made at 4825lbs with driver.

slicks alone will get you into the low 12's.

I agree, under excellent conditions. Good prep at the track, cold dry air, sea-level location.

My Previous 2001 L-
4lb, E-Fan, T-Body, Chip, Cone Filter, Line Mod Valve, 58" T-Bars,
Hoosiers, 100oct fuel with tune for it. NGK TR6's & Gatorbacks too.

What timing under WOT were you running with the 100 octane?

afchad Jan 13, 2005 09:59 AM

on my race program (100 octane) I am running 19 degrees of timing.

i say get blower ported by Apten and slicks and tbars!!!

I'm gonna throw a wet blanket on this..

Slicks alone will not gain you a full second. 0.3-to-0.4 maybe... but not a full second from the starting point of **13.1** to begin with.

To gain a full second I'd say a 50-75 shot of NOS and the smallest diameter slicks you can get would put you there on a regular basis.

beats me, was a mail order chip from JDM. Just told them what mods I had at the time. Flip chip with street & track programs

2001+ have 3.73:1s too vs the 3.55:1s in the 99/00s

Kevs-svt Jan 13, 2005 03:01 PM

I was thinking of a zex kit. my buddy judd uses a zex kit and ran a 12.03 his is an 01. I have 3.73's just havent had them installed.I think im going to go down to swanson to get a chip instead of only using the Diablo flash tunner. I know if i yank the sway bar, passanger seat , spar and tailgate i will be in the 12.9's.

Naaa, run it like you do on the street. A better tune and some good air will net you a 12.9X or better.

bacamino Jan 13, 2005 03:13 PM

install the 3.73's and get some slicks

i dont like this theory.... I think you should run it like it is on the street. I think the slicks are the only exception....

Ive ran a best of a 12.65 @ 109 on F1s. Only mods were JLP intake, 4# lower, Denso plugs, JLP Dyno tuned Predator and a Borla.
I run consistant 12.7s-12.8s @ 106-107 the rest of the time. 60fts are allways mid to low 1.8s

Full weight minus spare tire. I weigh 260#s.

tallimeca Jan 13, 2005 05:45 PM

huh

***edited my post because i failed to read the first post carefully***

With the mods you have now you shoud be able to hit 12's. Slicks probably will help you cut that 60 down.

My truck is definetely slower compared to other trucks......it's a 00. I ran a 12.9 on just a chip , filter, 2lb lower and a 1.97 60.

A little skill and you can do it with what you have. Practice.

For low 12, you are gonna need torque. You can have all the power in the world but if you don't get off the line with a good launch, you are done.
