New chip or programmer?

I'm looking to upgrade my chip. I don't know what type of chip to go with (I have NO tuner bias). Should I also look at a programmer (do they work well with 00 L's) or possibly a newer chip? The current chip was tuned by JL and I don't have any problems with it, just looking for more flexiblility and ease since there are no tuners in my part of the country.

Chips are now a thing of the past. Tuners are the new thing because of the versatility they offer in being able to save multiple tunes into 1 tuner instead of carrying around 4 different chips with different tunes on them. But thats just one of the advantages.

I've been talking to these guys:S&S in Denver. They are a Superchips distributor, have a dyno in house and have tuned Lightnings. They mostly build Cobra replicas, hotrods and Mustangs, but it's a very nice shop and could be a possibility. I'm just waiting to get a few more miles on my L before I take the plunge. You might give them a call since the drive from Cheyenne to Denver is no biggie.

Keep us posted on your modding.

Thanks everyone! I figured the hand-helds were the way to go. Also thanks to coopersunc. I think I might have to check out S&S and see what kind of work they do. After deciding on this I think I'm going to add a complete exhaust and ported blower. And to think I was gonna sell this truck a few months ago!

A hand held might be more high tech.

But if you have good tunes on a flip chip it is nice to just reach over and change tunes on the spot.

Like when you are just relaxed but want to blow someones doors off at the next light and then go back to sipping coffee durring shifts
