OK, a lot of people have looked, but nobody has tossed in their .02 yet. What year block are you looking for and what level are you building it it to? If I remember correctly, the L block is no different from any other 5.4 block, have you tried the local bone yard to find just a plain jane 5.4 block? If you want new, try: fordparts.com

I would prefer a new block. From what I understand the 04 blocks are a bit stronger.

The 03 blocks has a more beefier webbing in the bulk head then the earlier years. I have been involved in building 3 engines now I got my blocks from a company called ARP they are a reman out fit that does not sell to the public. They sell to distributors, one of the benefits of working for the big three.

I can't tell you what I paid cuz it was a brother in law deal. I can tell you this a reman block goes for any where from 600. to 1400. depending on where you get it from.

Keep in mind you can get a Navigator block 5.4L and it's the same as we have in the L no diffrence.

The dealerships sell a machined block for 1400.

If I can help you further pm me.
