what's your experience with a built motor and a stock trans
 

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with a built motor with a stock trans behind it, how long it lasted, what your first problems were, if you used slicks etc.........

I've got somewhere over 20,000 miles on my stock tranny.

when it's not having a motor replaced it's my daily driver.

only mods are:

*Factory Tech valve body.

*Moroso tranny pan (extra capacity)

*PI converter

*Factory Tech auxiliary cooler.

other than that, all the internals are stock.

seems to be holding up fine to a few extra horsepower.

My transmission is bone stock with the addition of a Valve-Body and a PI Torque Converter...

Still running strong :)

What number motor are you on? # 2 or # 3?.

Sorry son, but you cant build them tight and quiet and expect to run Nitrous and boost thru it and live for long. many have found out that over the last two years.

Wow! This is impressive that trucks running this fast are on the stock tranny.

Seems some guys must just be harder on their trucks. Constant downshifting at highway speeds isn't easy on them; probably harder than just running it full bore down the quarter mile.

Had stock motors in my 99 and 01. Put about 25k on the 99 and 5k and quite a few of low 11.0 passes on the 01. Both had a FT valve body. The 99 had a Level10 shift kit for about 16k miles.

My wife’s L just started slipping 3 days ago under load. Took it to a local shop and drove it for 5 min and it didn’t show any codes. The slip was very slight and he thought it may be OK ( so slight the tech couldn’t tell but I could). We did 2 20-85 mph runs 15 Minutes after I dropped the tech off the slip was very bad under heavy load. The truck was stock up till last month. It is a 2001 with 45K miles. It has just a few basic mods no pulley. Its my wife’s and is babied. It is rarely floored but I did it last weekend from about 15 and it ran like a champ. The slipping came on all of a sudden . I am going to drop the pan next week, flush it out and take a look.
