I just hope ford keeps the L affordable unlike this and the SRT-10... I just think ford will jump the new L's too about $39,000... just because they can stay cheaper than their competition... These guys are just driving our prices up in the long run as well

Those things shake and rattle with the base engine, just imagine what it will be like with 390hp

If you've seen an SSR in the flesh, you might wonder how they sell them. If you look at the window sticker, you'll think it's a wonder they can sell 'em. Overpriced and includes the wonderfull GM quality and Daytime Running Lights!!!!!

I'll keep my lightning, thanks. It is faster and will still tow about anything. It is also no where near the electronic disaster the SSR is. How'd you like to own a radio that changes its equalization according to what it thinks the music is? General Motors has decided we all need help, so they offer cars that include electronic babysitting. If I want to doors locked, I'll lock 'em. I don't need the car to do it for me. I've never understood auto-dimming mirrors. I want to be able to tell what is behind me, not just that someone is behind me.

the SSR is made in Lansing Michigan, about 1 mile, maybe 2 from where I go to school. I see them everyday, truck loads of them.

FUnny thing is that every single one made sits outside for a few days before it is shipped. So if anyone who had one built Nov-March and said it never saw snow is lying. it was born in snow.

I went to test drive one at that traveling Chevy test-drive thing and it didnt impress me. The interiror is all-right but it just didnt feel right. My fiancee who loves trucks/SUV's didnt like it either.
The bed had a bedrug and some wood runners-wanna be on the bed. It just didnt feel like a $40k truck to me. Id much rather spend the money on an 06 Lightning that that thing.

Gotta love this qoute from Motor Trend on the SSR:
"GM killed the Camaro for this? Street-rod looks plus so-so engine equals who cares." even with the LS2 its kinda "girly" looking, nice gay guy or chick truck.

2005 SSR will have an all aluminum 6.0 Liter LS2 V8, a new six speed manual, an upgraded 4L65E transmission, new bluish-purple hue changing paint color, upgraded rear end, and other detail bits. The new SSR is reported to be capable of low 5 second 0-60 sprints and sub 14 second quarter-mile passes. SSR weights 4600lbs.

I expect it will have a life cycle similar to the Prowler.

BTW: no truck beats the Lightning !!!!! our shiit dont stink

Speaking of competition...Not new news, but...

GTO's sales performance gets Pontiac's goat

Published June 2, 2004

There are a few red faces at General Motors.

In the first four months of this year, sales of the Pontiac Aztek sport-utility vehicle, considered by many the most gosh-awful-looking vehicle on the planet, totaled 7,416 units, down from 11,311 a year earlier.

But the countdown to Aztek obscurity is not what's causing the red faces.

In the same period, sales of the Pontiac GTO totaled 2,800 units, meaning Aztek outsold the highly touted performance coupe by more than 2 1/2-1.

GTO "the goat" looks like a cavalier and cost 33K.....winning combo, even dropping the LS2 in this might not save it from being cancelled..

Fords kicking but...again...Shelby V-10 GR-1 concept....700HP

Two GM dealers near my house have each been desperately trying to sell their SSr's for over six months. They put them up on stands, wrap balloons around them, put up big signs but no takers. And in Ontario Canada winter will be here soon. I'm sure they will be there next spring especially since the new one gets all the upgrades.

The only thing I don't like is the price tag.

SSR Vs. Mother Nature, SSR lost bad!
Here is one that was destroyed in the recent flooding in Pittsburgh. Sorry for the bad pic, it was totally submerged in water, and there is a Trailblazer into the rear end. I saw this while driving at work and had to get a pic, thought you guys might like to see it. Pretty much the entire dealership of Chevy's was lost.

enjoy!

I have to say that I like the truck. Great interior, retro and the removable hardtop is unique for this type of vehicle. In 2005, they will address the power issue. I have to say thumbs up to Chevy . My wife loved it and we were thinking of getting one. After all, not a bac companion for the Lightning.

When we saw the price of 80K in Canada vs 42K for the Lightning, we were quickly turned off. I commented that no way was this worth twice the cost of the Lightning. For the 2005 with the LS1 and 6 speed, I would pay up to 60K Canadian. That's about 45K US.

I guess that many agree, they're all sitting on dealer's lots.
