Predator question

Im running the performance tune, and i need to change it to be safe..

I moved the fuel all the way to the right (it says lean on that side) and the timing to the left all the way... Did i put the fuel in the right position? When i started it up it smoked for a sec.. never seen that before

umm....if you moved the fuel to the lean side, you moved it the wrong way. You need to move it to the rich side.

well do you have the manuel, becasue mine states "The negative and positive scales displayed in the predator reflects values added to a fuel table, not actual fuel being removed or added, that is why the (negative) value adds fuel as it make the values smaller, and smaller values equal more fuel in a fuel tuning table." So you went the wrong way. I believe the timing is correct.

HAy Brian,
I was reading this dude's post and I was wondering do I need to adjust my A/F since I loaded up the performance tune last night.
On my print out form the Dyno last night(which U know how that has turned out)my graph looks like it stayed in the ball park of 12.8-12.4 or looks like as my speed increased. Thoughts?
Russ.

Or should I just put the factory crap back on and wait until I have a Predator tuner tweak it once i get my goodies bolted on so nothing gets screwed up?
U da' man,man.

The standard Predator tune is very aggressive and some L owners have reported blowing their motors using the standard tune that comes with the Predator. I would highly recommend you get with one of the supporting vendors here at F150online and have them do a custom tune for you.

I am not sure what is involved and how much they charge but the supporting vendors here are the experts in the field of performance tuning to the Lightning. When you start adding pulleys and other bolton’s it is very important to have the proper tune for your Lightning.

The wrong tune, too much timing, too little fuel (lean) can blow a motor easy and then your basically stuck with something a warranty will not cover.

For peace of mind get with one of the supporting vendors...

alot of people keep on mistaking which tune on the predator is lean. The performance tune IS NOT THAT LEAN. I came out somewhere around 12.7. My stock af was 13 point something so it went in the way of the better. The pulley tune on the other hand can be lethal depending on the truck and temps. Please dont confuse the two tunes.

You have to go with the directions on the Predator, not the plus or minus signs.

Jim Jr.: Isn't 12.7 a little lean for supercharged applications? It might make more power, but it is probably somewhat of a ticking time bomb, depending on how long you "stay in it." Most try for 11.5-12.0 A/F?

yes its a little lean but this was with stock boost and only a filter kit. Nothing really to worry about. The stock af numbers were more lean that these

I would just put the stock tune back in until you get the goodies on. But if you want to install it I would add some fuel to it. Most people say 12.0 is perfect, but i say more like 11.5 or richer (with a pulley). Were you hearing any pinging on the dyno?

Stock timing is a lot lower though. The trucks run leaner and use low timing to get good emissions.
