With enough horsepower, even a brick will fly (like an F4-J Phantom).
All you need to do is strap on a 75 shot to bring your performance back to par with the stock wheels. No prob. |
FYI - Centerline advertises that their "Rotary Forged" wheels for trucks weigh the same as most factory 17 or 18 inch cast aluminum rims.
I know, a 20 is not a 22, but if you are looking to stay relitively close in weight and performance... |
But...
It's not just about total mass. Think "moment of inertia". You will go much, much slower on 22's, in addition to killing your brakes (even worse than on the stockers), handling like crap, poor ride quality, cost, and looking stupid.
To each his own. The more slow Lightnings out there, the better I look. |

As for quater mile times and all of that, im not really interested (it prolly hurts u guys to hear this) But the reason for buying my Lightning wasnt for the speed, it was for the price. I wanted a 2004 mustang gt. Previously owned stangs all my life. But they were clearing out all 2004 Lightnings and my payments worked out to be cheaper on a lightning than a stock gt. So im trying to get the best of both worlds and also being 22 years of age, im still into "all eyes on me" attention kinda thing hahah so when i pay my truck off and am able to start modding the engine, i think i will just settle for some BlInG hahahah :rocker: |
My L brother Clint (finally back from Bagdad to pick his new L up from storage) just came by the dealership today to finally meet me and show me his L. He's already got 2000 miles on it. He's got 22" Boyd's and I must say it looked pretty sweet. Clint must have gotten some sick hazardous duty pay. He's already got 22's, Bassani cat back, billet upper and lower grills, a Gaylord hard cover, and the lowering job is just around the corner. He's driving to So. Cal. to have a So. Cal. drop kit installed.
He'll then be doing the performace mods in preperation to ship the L to Germany where he's stationed. How'd you guys like to run your L on the Autoban? :drool: |
Canada...running 22's will definitely hurt your braking and the weight will something to consider. But more importantly, the lower ball joints on our L's are the ones that suffer most. They don't come with grease fittings (very little play) and those larger wheels will give even less. So be prepared especially if you want to lower. And my .02...if your going any larger than 18's...lower that puppy! :D

I just couldn't get her in the 11's with them but I loved the way it looked back then and I wouldn't mind going Back in Time to do it all over again. Sweet wheels bro. Not blingy at all. Get em and put on a 1/2 Groundforce drop. 130 bucks and simple to install. Noticable difference and should be perfect for the 22's. Obviously, performance isn't an issue so no comment. Just keep an eye as said before on the suspension components.

i dont really want to work on the front suspension, but as for the back an incch lower would be perfect. ill wait for the rims to go on then go from there :rocker: thnx for all the comments and help guys! i appreciate it |
