Help with NGK BR7EF's.
 

Well I changed my IT 20's out for BR7EF's and it wasn't for the better. Now I have a ruff idle and when I let off the gas and start to coast I have a miss. I have them gapped at .038 and was wondering if this is correct. I see a lot of people gapping them at .035 and was wondeirng if this might help the idle and miss issue. If not could I re install the IT 20's or do I have to go with a new plug. I plan on having the eaton ported this winter so I would need a plug that would work with that setup. I would rather not buy IT22's but will if they solve my problem.

br7ef's will have a rough idle compared to the densos

close the gap alittle .o35-.036 it will help. The plugs are good I have been running them for almost a year with no problems. Densos are over rated. Go to the prostock or promod pits at your local race Plugs of choice NGK, Autolite and champion. They use them for a reason. They work that's all that matters.

I think you need to put TR6's in for a 4# pulley. There is absolutely no need to run that cold of a plug with your mods.:fyi:

i spoke with a tuner last night and they siad if I go with a 6# I need the 7,
however for a 4# the TR-6 is perfect.

Yet it will idle like crap, nothing you can do about it. It is a cooler plug. (cooler plug means less detonation)

I agree, the BR-7's are to cold of a plug for your set up. I ran TR-6's with over 20 lb of boost.

I have been running BR7EF's with a 5 pounder. after 15000 miles I started to have a stutter. I pulled them the other day and found one had lost the gronging piece down to the bend. It was in the third cylinder back on the passenger side. Funny all the problems I have had are on the passenger side head. Lost 2 cylinders in another block. Rings as well. same side two inner cylinders. Anyway all the other plugs looked great. They were gapped at .035 and had opened no higher than .036. Maybe I could make a bit more HP with a hotter plug. But I went back in with BR7EF's.
