TX L's going to TOPEKA

Hey just wondering if anyone in here from TX is going to TOPEKA for the Harley/Lightning truck fest in Sep. I hope to be following a TALON group from the Arlington area. Should be a fun road trip with a lot of L's. If anyone around the Abilene area is going let me know, we could have a fat a$$ group of L's...

who else is going from other states? WOO HOO - road trip

Unhappy

Not this year. I was planning on it, but it just isn't going to work out. Hopefully next year.

awww man, you guys suck. It is going to be Awsome. I've never been but I'm sure it will be something like FFW at Ennis just with a ton of L's and longer. Any of you guys ever come out to Abilene?

I am the one organizing the convoy up from Texas, and I for one can tell you the drive is worth it. We had a great time going up last year in a convoy of about 12, and had an even better time at the event. It's not too often you get the chance to see over 150 Lightnings in one place! This year is set to be even better, with the addition of the Harley trucks. So far it looks like the convoy from DFW has roughly 25 trucks in it, with more expected.

If you don't want to put miles on your truck, tow it! How are you going to enjoy your truck if you don't drive it? In any case, don't miss out on this event, regardless.

The info on the convoy from DFW can be found here: http://www.nloc.net/forum/showthread...threadid=72863

I don't have a TX L, but am from Topeka and would like to zip back there from Wyoming (in the Air Force) to partake in the festivities. Sounds like a good time, and always cool to meet some fellow L brothers.

Hmmm......never been to a Harley/Lightning truck fest. Sounds like a kick a$$ time! Looks like I need to check my work schedule and see if I can take some vacation.

This happens in Topeka KS on Sept 24-26. Schedule of events can be found here:

http://www.lightningfest2004.com/register.php

Last year was the first year, and it was solely for Lightnings. There were upwards of 150 trucks out there last year. This year, with the addition of the Harley trucks, it could be 300-400 trucks. Last year was an absolute blast, and this year is set not to dissappoint either.

Info on the convoy for Dallas/Fort Worth and participant list will be updated here:

http://www.nloc.net/forum/showthread...threadid=72863

Last year we had about 12 trucks in the first convoy, and 6 in the second. This year we're trying to get everyone into one, and it looks like we're on target to run up there with 50-60 trucks in tow. Please e-mail me (tliss@comcast.net) or post up on the convoy forum if you are interested in joining the Texas/SW convoy.

The things to remember in a convoy of this size are - Get an FRS radio - That way we can keep in touch - They are real cheap these days make sure it does BOTH channels and suchannels or codes. We are usually on channel 5 subchannel 4 ...

A pack that big gets LOTS of attention - So Radar detectors arent worth much since when 16,000 hp goes screaming by at 110 mph grandma in the mini van she will call 911 and they will roadblock the road...

Dont ask me how I know

Who would carry an FRS radio? Radio Shack maybe?
