time for new tires

Well my 01 is in need of new tires with only 6000 miles on the truck.I need a good street/strip tire in oe size.I have a 2'' rear drop,chip,ftvb,4lb lower, psp air.The f1s wont hook at all at anythiing under about 20 mph.I lost 3 runs last night because of tires,so I want to get them before my next trip to track. What have you guys found in our size thats good all around? And where have you bought them? Thanks for your help.By the way I lost to a silverado ss with a k/b blower I started realing him in mid track, but I needed just a little more track.A stock 03 mach 1 mtm, this was close but he had me by about 4 car lenths off the line, same problem not enough track,I was about at his door at the end,the worst run was an integra turbo he got a real good launch and I couldnt catch him.Its cool to see what some of these kids can do with the imports, this car was a total sleeper. It was a good time though its just a local runway,so no times are available. Thanks again.

If you want good traction but dont mind the wear get some nitto 555rs for the back and the regular 555's for the front. I had the 555's all the way around on my truck for about a 1,000 miles before i got my 20's and they hooked great for a non D/R

Just ordered F1's for mine.. Goodyear is running a special and you can save $100 on a set of four.. the ride easier and quieter than the Nitto's, some run Toyo's and you can try the Hankook's if you want too... more choices now than ever before.. good luck

From: Colorado,
Please post a link for that deal.

I just orderd two F1's from my local discount tire for $214 each.
Mounted and balanced and have to wait a week and half.

$100 off sounds good but not if it is from suggested retail which is ridiculously high.

So, more details please.

Here is a link for the nitto's

Thanks for the replys,I think I am going to go with the nittos,I will post back if I find any great deals on them.Im not to concerned about the wear, as I only put about 2000 miles a year on the truck. Are traction bars worth a try?99% of my driving is on the "roads" in the PGH area.

Why only 2000 miles, I live in Erie and get a lot more snow than you do down there

However, if mileage isnt a concern, then do the Nitto555R's on the back tires, they rock for traction but will only last you two years with the miles you are driving..

Thanks again for your help.I orderd the nittos from discount tire,$874.00 shipped, which is close to the f1s price,I know they wont last as long, but when the f1s go up in smoke they dont last long either.I got the 305/45/18 for the rear and 295/45/18 for the front.I will post back when mounted and let you guys know how they hook up.

Sorry dboat,I missed your post on my reply. But the truck is just one of my toys,so I only take it out in good wheather,so it sits about 355 days a year lol.Its only been washed once since I bought it new,it usually just needs dusted off with the california duster.

Oh man, I just couldnt do that.. I got my L out in March and got to drive it a few days, should have waited until April, since my insurance was lower..

Must be one sweet ride then with that low a mileage.

Yea dboat it is real nice,I was fortunate to get it the day after it was delivered to the dealer,so the under side is spotless.I looked at some new 04s about a month ago and I couldnt believe how rusted the undersides were, the rotors looked like they were junk and everything else had surface rust. How do you carry over my quote into the reply? You may have noticed I only have 13 posts in three years so Im not real good at computer stuff.
