Another Flat (@#$(@#$@$# this now makes 7 plugs in my F-1's

It's like a grrnty, bring my L to work, and I get another flat,
(ya I know stop bringing it to work) :lol:

I was ok with the 6 plugs in the rear two F-1's, and kind of happy I never had one in the front. Well so much for that, )@$#)@$%)@

Actually the rear had two plugs by the time the truck was a week or two old, then another and another and another and another,
totalling 6 now. Now with the Front this makes 7 plugs in my F-1s'
(and hell no I aint buying new ones, it's only gonna happen again)

I'm about ready to call a Lawyer and get a free set of F-1's from my Company (and no I am not alone) AMOF gee lucky me found a nail in my front tire of my Mitsi-what ever they call it yesterday (@%$#)@$%)@$%$

Is it me, or do these F-1's seem to take in nails REAL EASY ???
ANY OF YOU HAVE NUMEROUS PLUGS IN THE F-1's ???

Hey, sorry your getting nailed but I really love that shot of your truck with the new camera...

I am thinking that angle parked in a big puddle of water in morning light you could get an awsome reflection of the reflection in the water.

I found a plug in my tire after I bought it but have been lucky myslelf. Hope this don't jinx me.

I am claiming Kings X on not getting your bad tire luck.

;) Rob don't feel bad got 4 in my F-1's think its a Long Island thing! Funny thing is my toyo's I, use for winter don't have any. To much crap dropped all over the roads! Guess they are trying to fill all the holes! LOL Artie :mad:

I think you're nuts for putting plugs in your tires. I haven't trusted them ever since I had one fail a number of years ago. I only use patches, but that's just me :D

i just had to plug mine saturday. I Had a huge bolt head sticking out and scraping the ground when I drove.

I just got one put in yesterday :mad: That is actually my first plug though... Do these things hold pretty good?

hey rob,, How well do you get along with your neighbors LOL..... I got my first plug last week. These tires are sticky and they pick everything..

:eek: Rob and your plug brothers, you sure like living on the edge! Any good tire guy would only use a plug as a temporary fix on a high performance tire until he could patch it.

Knock-off the seedless for a month and you got a new set of F1's.:beers:

Seriously, what's the difference in a high performance tire and regular tire with regards to plug vs. patch?

Do the plugs fly out if driven say over 80 mph?

I've had 2 L's and each one one them got at least 2 flats a year...and each time got a "patch"...also was told (Goodyear dealer) that when you patch or plug a F1 tire your speed rating is not warranted any more....I think these tires are nail magnets and are designed this way so you'll be forced to get new tires...
I would get a patch instead of a plug (I think it's safer).

Plugs are only supposed to be temporary fixes (as they can be done with the tire on). I guess if it holds in there, you can use it until it falls out, but it's really not meant for extended, much less high speed, use.

Go get that tire pulled off and patched up right. A local mom n pop tire shop near me does it for $10 if they don't have to take the wheel off the car. Even better, Costco (and I'm sure Sam's Club is the same) will pull it off the truck, patch it, rebalance, and send you on your way for $10. Or it's free if you bought the tire from them.

Anybody with plugs should be very careful...2 years ago while riding shotgun in a GT, my buddy driving got up to about 125 or so while on our way to Moroso for T&T and blew out a plug. We lost control and did a few spins and ended up in a ditch. When we examined the tire, we noticed that it shredded at exactly the same spot he had it plugged 2 weeks earlier (the area was still red from being marked). The way I see it, some pretty stout forces are being exerted on our tires under normal conditions, but when you factor in a nose heavy 4700 pund performance truck, things get a bit scary.

On a side note, I saw where John Lingenfelter used to have his tires xrayed before doing top speed runs to identify factory imperfections in his tires...obviously 227 mph TT vetttes are a far cry from what we will prolly ever see, but it does make you wonder about the amount of force being put on these tires....
