F1's = 2001 to 2003 Different compound?

I have noticed something odd about my 03L as compared to my 01L.

The 03 will not make any tire noise at all, I even left to big patches of rubber outside my fiancee's house (Her father was egging me on) and I hardly heard anything. The truck wont even chirp second and it shifts as hard as my 01 even though the back end will slide when it shifts under moderate to hard accel.

I wonder if the tire compounds are different?

Any thoughts?

Bob

Bob,
I believe that the compound has been changed in the last year or so. There was a thread about new compounds of tires purchased thru Tire Rack I believe. They were having a closeout on the old compound...or something:eek:

I've noticed in my '04 that I cannot leave any rubber on the ground. I can get a lot of noise but never have I left any signs.:(

after doing a search and reading some old threads, seems the compound was changed in '01 sometime.....just FYI...JR

I wonder the same thing. I got on my stock truck in first gear the other day on a long gentle uphill stretch and when it hit second gear it felt like I had hit an arresting cable for a second. It almost felt like I had reversed direction - then it was off pulling hard in second gear. All I could figure was I either broke them loose but good on the shift or there is something wierd going on with my computer and transmission. Anyway if it was tire slip - I never heard a sound out of them.:lurk:
