Roush kit and QA1's?
Has anyone here installed the Roush lowering kit and QA1 shocks? I would love to do the same but I have a few questions. Being 12 way adjustable how easy is it to adjust them? What is the ride quality like? Does the shock bottom out when dampened for a long ride on a bumpy raod? How do you like this setup overall including your pros and cons being that you have now installed them? Have you had any clearance problems? What else did you need to properly fit the Qa1s?
Thanx in advance for your replies Cypri |
I've had the QA1's for about a year. They are easily adjustable. 60 seconds for all 4. They do not have variable damping, though, so they are not the smoothest ride on the road.
And I have had quality control problems. Two have failed in less than 10,000 miles. I just discovered that one of the fronts was shot. I thought that something was going away in the front, but it didn't leak or anything. One rear failed almost immediately. Stan Martin intervened and QA1 Fed Ex'ed me a new one at no cost. But with the discovery of the new failure in the front, I let QA1 know about the 50% failure rate on my shocks. They read me the 1-year warranty policy. I would have expected more from them. Policy is for the weak and indecisive. Don't think I'll be giving them any more business. They had their chance . . . |
HMMMMmmm
Was thinking of getting the QA1's, but this is the second thread I have read talking about their failure after low mileage. For that kind of $, I want performance and QUALITY. Think I will just get the Bilsteins for now.

Thanx alot Tim. Sounds like I may have to pass on the QA1 shocks. Has anyone else had this problem? Please post.
Thanx Cypri |
I have the shocks that come with the roush kit. I have had no problems in 20,000 miles of service (and three driving schools). I was going to upgrade to the Qa1's but with all the negative press I may stay with the Roush.
