My nitto's only lasted 2000 miles.

I just got a set of nittos a few months ago, and I have gone to the track almost twice every weekend since. I make about 10 runs a night. So 10X2X8=160 smokey burnouts, and now they have almost no tread left.

I think it's time for me to buy some slicks for the track, it seems that it will be a lot cheaper than buying Nittos every 2000 miles.

Plus I haven't been able to get any great 60' times with the nittos at my local tracks(terrible track prep). Nothing worse than a 10 second burnout only to smoke the tires again off the line.

I'll most likely never be faster than high 11's, so would the 16" with 28" tires be better for my application or should I go ahead and get the 15" with 30" tires.

Thanks
Mike

I could be wrong but 15's will not clear the rear calipers will it?

I think everyone grinds the calipers and uses Bogarts.

Oh first I have heard of that must be real close to fitting then.

You are correct, you do have to grind calipers for 15s. I'm not into it enough to know how much differance the 30s over 28s will make +/- with your set up.
I run the 10x28x16 Hoosiers for the track, my nittos helped on the street driving and do fair on the track(good track prep where I go)

Have you ever been on a track with terrible prep? How do the slicks react to bad track prep? Can you still cut decent 60' times. I ran a few 8.1's this past weekend with 1.9 60' times. I think if I could get it down to a 1.7 I might see some 7.99's in the 1/8th.
Thanks

If you go that often you might want a set of ET streets. (They are a harder compound)

Ive had both MTs and tried Dons bolts hoosiers. If i were to buy them again,i would go with hoosiers. They are MUCH more stable on the street.I even managed to twist my driveshaft into a pretzel with the hoosiers. aluminum against rubber,Rubber wins,They hook good. You just gotta get them hot.

hey Mike, the one track i've been to with bad prep they still spun a little not bad, just got to heat them good, unfortunetly the lane I got stuck in most runs did'nt have the 60 or 1/8th timers working but it was the fast lane.did get in the working lane once, only 7 min. between comp runs got a 1.89 60' 8.28 in 1/8 at 85.5 ended 1/4 w/ 12.90 at 106.13.
