I bought a 2nd IC pump when I thought mine went bad, ended costing me $267. Ford wants over $350 for it from a dealer.
My problem ended being wires sitting on the header and causing electrical surges which burned threw the IC harness.

That's the resistor for the fuel pump. It just happens to share the wire harness at that point. That fact that it gets hot is normal and has nothing to due with the intercooler pump - FYI.

Sal provided some good info on what temps the IC starts working. It's in the link below.

Make sure your pump is bad before you replace it. I had problems with mine right off of the lot. I discuss the cause in the link below.

Whatever the problem is I hope you get it figured out and repaired. Good luck!

From: Colorado,
You can take wires from the battery and after removing the electrical plug from the back of the pump touch the wires carefully on the pins and you will hear and feel your pump run.

Don't worry about polarity, If you get it wrong it will just run backwards since it is DC volts.

As a matter of fact if something got in there and is causing it to stick you can unjam it that way.

I have done this test with a sepearate battery so I know it works.

My intercooler was running dry without water for ????????

The Ding bat who owned claimed it wouldn't hurt it and never had the intercooler replaced durring warranty. I ended up doing it myself and found that the teflon was chipping off my rotors. Some say that is due to high heat, allthough it is before the intercooler so I don't know how that can make a difference.

None the less, since yours has water I think you could run if you stayed off the boost. It will circulate just a bit from convection and will cost you some power.

Good luck with the pump, them suckers are pricey huh.

Don't drain the water and run the pump to long dry cause it is bad for the seal. since your are down there underneath you can see the drain valve and take out the fluid and disconnect the hoses on the pump to see if you can stick you finger or something in there to turn the impeller if it won't run electrically and is jammed up. Somethimes giving it a nudge will get it going.

Oh well, thats my 2 cents
