newbie here, couple of Q's

First of all, I would like to say hello to all and praise you for being such a tight bunch. I bought my 2003 Black L on Valentines Day/ my Anniversary. I am looking at bumping up the hp to @450-500, what is the quickest and least expensive way to do that excluding N2O? Also, I am only running 93 octane in this truck, but I have noticed a sound that sounds like a little backfire a couple of times, but I hear it on the drivers side. Does anyone know what I am hearing? It is just a little puff of a sound and I don't notice a stumble from the engine when it happens. The truck has 1100 miles on it and is bone stock, except for the rear tire mod via the loud pedal LOL. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks, Scott

congrats on the new L!

you might want to look into a chip or predator/filter/pulley & plug combo...any supporting vendor :D can help you out with that.

as far as your sound, ive never heard it on the drivers side, i get the normal exhaust 'backfire' on the exhaust side.

First off Congrats on the truck..
Is the sound during shifts at WOT if so it is the tourqe reduction ( the trucks computer shuts off spark to I believe 4 cyl's during shift to save trans sounds like a fart noise ) If not it just might be the exhaust when you let off back pressure will pop (this gets worse if you go to an after maket exhaust
Good luck with the truck
Slick

Welcome,

Give us more details about the noise you are hearing. Is it repeatable? What's going on when you hear it?

Hello and welcome.

Dose it do this on deceleration only ?

Welcome to the community. The plugs, pulley, and predator are a real good starting point. Maybe a catback exhaust system and single blade throttle body. Most will recommend the FTVB to save on the tranny as well. Good luck. :beers:

Thanks guys for the quick responses. As for the little backfire noise, it has done it only a couple of times and it has just been a light acceleration. I am probably just too leary of every creak and groan. Just like when I turn the truck to full lock to turn around in my driveway it makes a clunk like my tie rod is loose or something but everything looks fine underneath the truck. So, I am just gonna drive it and enjoy it like everyone says. LOL Like I could NOT enjoy it.
