Question Accetone Badges

Aloha,

What is the deal on the accetone badges. How does this work? What do you do? Will it harm my badges in the long run?

Let me know what gives here and how to.

Mahalo

I did mine on my truck. The most important step is to mask off a huge area around the badges. The last thing you want is acetone on your paint. Next step is to get some real acetone from Home Depot or some other place, nail polish remover will take way too long. Next step I did was to lightly soak a cotton ball with the acetone and just rub it over the badge until all the paint is off the emblem. I went over it several times with cotton ***** just to be sure it was all gone. I used to Q tip or two to get right next to the letters that the cotton ball didn't get. I then waited about half an hour to be sure the acetone was completely evaporated then I gave the truck a quick wash. That's it.

I did mine a long time ago. Put a little acetone on rag and itll get the big stuff off a lot quicker.

Does anyone have a pic of this done on a Black L? I have thought about doing this, but was worried I wouldn't like it and couldn't go back.

I don't have a pic but I have done this on my black L and absolulty love it. I felt the same way you did but went ahead with it anway and am very glad I did. It would look damn good with some chrome wheels which I don't have, but as is I think it looks 10 x's better then the stock ones.

Thanks for the pic....That really stands out....I think I like it. I was looking at my L a few weeks ago, when one of my buds pulled into the parking lot. I noticed his stood out on his silver L, so I looked at mine again, it seemed to disapear into the paint.

I think I am going for it.....Thanks again fella's

Make sure you mask off the area around the emblem. Especially below to protect against drips. Acetone will nuke your paint. I am generally clumbsy when doing my own work, but am proud to say I protected my ride from me...

Those look great....But I am still undecided if I should do it to my Black L....I wish someone would post a few pics of it from farther away....

Should I...Should I not.....Should I .....Should I not.....

Don't worry about this hurting your badges... all it's doing is removing a layer of black paint.
Also, if you don't like it after you do it what's to stop you from going back with some black paint and a fine tip brush and undoing what you did?
