Hey Guys I'm Back!

Hello. It's been awhile since I was last on here (about February 2001 to be exact).
I sold my 2KL then and haven't had a truck since.

Now I'm back in the market for a new one.
Last time I was here, there was a scare about leaking intercoolers on the 99-00 models.

What's going on with the 02-newer ones?
Anyone got a good deal on one?

I found a 2003 Black one with 17 miles in Greensboro at Bob Dunn Ford.
I may pick this one up.

Cheers,
Ryan

That intercooler problems been fixed  I just got an 03 L and absolutely love it.

Dan_03Lightning Jan 9, 2004 05:39 PM

What are they asking for $$$$ on the '03?

ShaneMcKenna203 Jan 9, 2004 05:44 PM

Eposey did you used to have a 99? Thats cool you now have an 03. Ryan welcome back! How did you go so long without the Lightning? Im having a hard time going 3 months through just the winter without mine! Good luck finding an 03. What is your price range? If I come across a good deal, I will be sure to let you know. I am in Illinois, and you are in North Carolina, but still I'll keep my eyes peeled. Good luck man, and welcome home!
:beers: Shane

shoot for an 03 with newer heads obviously to opt out of fords quiet spoken plug spitting standard option.

Ryan2KRedL Jan 9, 2004 05:53 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I had to sell the L back in 01 due to money issues! Quite frankly between the truck payment and insurance ($200 a month) I was losing money!
Been married for over 3 years now and wife says I can have my toys again (:D).
I currently have a 1998 Saleen mustang and my wife drive a 1994 Probe GT.

The 03L in Greensboro is listed on Ebay at a buy it now price of $28,800.

Glad to hear the problems are worked out with the intercoolers.

What was/is the deal on prior 03 heads?

So what are the HOT mods right now?
Back when I had mine, the superchip R9 and an S+B filter were all you needed for low 13's.

What are the first mods now?
chip
filter
lower pulley?

Thanks and hope to be a L owner soon!

Regards,
Ryan

Welcome back Ryan

The Tuners and Vendors have new generation software,
improved Tunes, and many more Hi-Perf choices these days.
A simple Filter Chip n 4lb Pulley can get you in the 12's,
The 11's are easily acheived for a mere 2-3 K
I'd say take a look at their site's and you'll see what I mean.
These are the ones I have in my Favorite Lightning Vendor Folder

I am toying with the idea of selling my silver 02.....it has been a difficult decision and I am still not sure. I guess if I could get around 24K I might let it go:( It is all stock except K&N and FTVB with 21K miles. Garage kept, sees no rain or snow for past year, etc. It has been babied and only seen one drag strip run (way too crowded the day I went, hehe) and ran a 13.6 at 101.9 with a 2.0 60' ....this run was made 100% stock so the truck does very well. Anyone interested let me know!

Ryan

Oh ya I forgot to mention

WE HAVE A LOT MORE SHOW OFF'S NOW TOO

Ryan2KRedL Jan 10, 2004 11:10 AM

Thanks alot for all the good information!
Wow...things really have changed since I was here!

Vinnie - Now I know what a $100,000.00 Lightning looks like! :bows:

You know it's funny, just before I sold my L I had talked to Jim D'Amore about reburning my R9 and installing his 4 pound lower pulley!
Looks like Team JDM is doing very well these days.

Yeah, I love those Kenne Bell blowers! I am patiently awaiting the release of the 96-98 2 valve model for my 98 Saleen.

So is RED still the fastest color?

I have found a few USED L's between 18K - 25K. However for just a couple bucks more, I can get a new one.
Are there any 2004 models out there? When I search all I'm finding are 03's.

Thanks again for all the great information.
Yall really have some nice trucks!
:D

Cheers,
Ryan
