Could not break 12's...Little Disapointed!!

Well I have had my 02' Lightning over a year now & I finally made it to the track this weekend and I must say I was a little disapointed in my times. I only got to make 3 runs due to all the people at the track. The weather was pretty bad, it threated to rain all day. The temp was 80-85 and the humidity was between 80-90 percent. So not to inviting for the L. Anyway, these are my 3 runs you guys can help me in any way... tell me how I can improve and tell me what you think I could possibly run in good air.

Run 1: Left at about 1000rpm

Reaction -- .841
60ft -- 1.878
1/8 et -- 8.367
1/8 mph -- 84.41
1/4 et -- 13.081
1/4 mph -- 104.43

Run 2: Left at 1500rpm:

Reaction -- .602
60 ft -- 1.889
1/8 et -- 8.416
1/8 mph -- 84.10
1/4 et -- 13.155
1/4 mph -- 103.48

Run 3, Left at 900 rpm, spun badly, got sideways and had to get out of it. I think it was bad track prep. The first 2 run I got the right lane and it hooked pretty good, this time I got left and it was a nightmare.

Reaction -- .770
60 ft -- 2.246
1/8 et -- 9.025
1/8 mph -- 83.35
1/4 et -- 13.795
1/4 mph -- 102.51

You guys can look at all my mods in my sig and tell me what you think, you advise and suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys!

It's just the weather, 90% humidity is killer on these trucks. Go back on a better day and 12s are yours:)

thats what Im thinking... I have been to my local track during the winter vs. the summer/fall ...the difference is crazy. I was running 4/10ths slower consistantly during the summer.... so now I will only go when its 60 degrees or less..

Cool, thanx guys....So you think I can get 12.70 with cooler weather. Also, how can I lower my 60ft times, I hear all you guys talking about 60ft times...What's the best way to improve them?

How to improve them? How quickly you can put the pedal to the floor coming out to the hole.... without spinning, of course.

practice makes perfect!
good luck,
:rocker:

You got that right.....I have seen the same 4 - 5/10's slower times......summertime and Lightnings do not agree

70 degrees or less

Silver 2002,

Your times will drop. But I do feel your speeds are down for having a chip filter pulley.

In weather like you describe I turn 106-107. with 84-85 in the 1/8.

Just my 2 cents.

Your almost there. You do have a 12 second truck on your hands.Must be the humidity cause i ran in 80 degree weather and ran 12.6s with a jdm chip.Must have been dry.I could not ask for better performance for the $700 I have in mods. Some of your mods are not going to do ANYTHING for you so basically you have a chip and filtered Lightning.Ive tried to tell people over and over that just cause you spend an extra $2k in mods,it doesnt matter if you dont do the right ones.I ran my best times with the stock air box too!I ONLY bought an air filter for the sound it makes.By the way,I spent $99 on the same air intake you can buy at JDM for $200 at Blue oval performance minus the useless piece of foam. worst mods you can buy from ANY tuner for performance is ............

throttlebody
exhaust
breather cap

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY is you are not bukiding a 10 second truck!

JDM makes awesome power on their chips so youll get there.Im willing to bet your exhaust might be screwing you.......
