10's at Norwalk FFW?
 

I know with the open comp format being the quickest isn't the main objective. I'm just wondering if some of the heavy hitters will unleash there beasts and show there cards on friday time trials before qualifying saturday. I'm ready to see some 10's in Ohio! Please, pretty please I'll buy all 10 second lightning drivers Norwalk's famous pound of Ice Cream!

I doubt I am going to turn my truck up to it's full potential. Last weekend in Virginia, my truck performed awesome at around 11.50 it was real cosistant and got me into the semi finals.

However it looks like it may be a little cooler this coming weekend in Ohio. So if I run the same tune, I may be running low 11's on saturday. So who knows, I may have turn it up on sunday.

I doubt I will make it to Ohio in time to run test and tune on friday. I will prob show up sometime friday late afternoon.

At a dollar a pound it's easy to like ice cream at the track.:banana:

Isn't the point to run as fast as you can? Why turn down the wick on your truck? It wouldn't be that much fun.
Is your truck going to blow apart after a quick run?

The tough truck class is considered a showdown class which means your dial in is set at a tenth faster then what you run on Saturday.
So if Bill rips off a 10.70 on saturday, then he has to go consistent 10.60 all day sunday.(Not an easy thing to CONSISTENTLY do)

Remember , you pay $35 to join FFW. Another $50 at the gate and $20 more to race that class, besided the travel and hotel and stuff. It is not a cheap weekend to just go Test and Tune.

Ok, so you run a tenth off your normal times so that you can be OK... that part I understand. Seems like each time I see results from these events, people run so slow regardless of weather conditions. Are people really sandbagging that bad?:confused:

Not so much sandbagging as Racing smart. You are going against some very tough competition. These guys run a hundreth off the dial in. Not a lot of room for error.You learn very quickly that fast is nice , but consistency rules or you go home very early on sunday .
I have run 11.90s before, but I can tell you it is a lot easier to run a 12.50 (No weight reduction or cooling)and then Ice down or deweight to a 12.40.then try and run 11.80s consistently.

You can leave the line easier and go for that consistency.

I had a 12.55, 12.56, 12.55 at FFW Virginia between practice and eliminations. If not for SLEEPING at the line I might have gone a few rounds.

You must not race often..... Tough Truck is bracket racing. So you qualify with a 10.70 as pointed out above so now your dial in is 10.60. You run against a truck that has a dial in of 14.60. You just gave up 4 seconds. If the slower truck cuts a perfect light you go on the trailer period and it's :wave:

As was stated its bracket racing to try to win a Ford Truck - NOT bragging rights for ETs. The Class leader won the event in Richmond in a bone stock 2003 that was running 14.0x...

Think about it - You put slcks on a 14.0x truck and run it down the track .. Unless the motor stops running it will run its number. No issues with wheel spin or belt slippage or fuel delivery or burnt plugs etc etc etc ...

You take a truck like HD's ( no offense HD ) that is making GOBS of power and you rip off a few solid 10.80 runs - Then the weather changes or the track goes away - What do you do then ?

As John said you put your truck on the trailer and go home..

There are a few opportunities to rip off an all out braging rights ET run during the weekend. You will likely see a few go for broke runs BUT they will be by the poeple that are alreay out of the running or are running a diff class..

Show up Friday and Sat on time for test and Tune to see the most all out runs...

But, if you have a truck capable of 9's on NOS, wouldnt you be able to run mid to high 10's all day long and be consistant?

JMHO, but the 9 sec ride would be alot more fun than the 14 sec ride:D
