Ran with them today for the first time. Best 60 was a 1.94. I have tractions bars and a 4lber.

Only got to make 3 runs so i was doing some different things. But none seemed to be the best.

Need to get more seat time with them but here's my questions.

What air pressure do those who are using these recommend????

With stock tranny and convertor, what rpm do you launch and and what is your techinque???

What about your technique for heating these up and the burnout box???

These are the 11.5's.

Please don't respond with "should've got this kind'a tire, should have got the size, should have used the search post and spent 3 hours reading stupid arguements untill you found something worth reading......."

Anyone with experience or good, intelligent information, your help would be appreciated.

 

I am using QTP's and air down to 18# and would not go lower than 17#. I do a modest burn and use the water box. I get 60 foot times with a low of 1.591 and a high of 1.65. The low was gotten on a stock tranny and tq converter.

If the tires are new, don't get dissappointed in your times. Green tires will always be worse than seasoned slicks. Remember the "huge burnout' rule on green tires.

Trust me your short times will drop

I was going to mention "green tire" but got beat to the punch by soapster. I always heat the crap out of mine, with a best of 1.60 but usually in the 1.7 range.

there tires had all of 4-5 passes on them before i ran them. Any recommendations for "seasoning" these up?

How are you guys launching the truck...ie what rpm and how you apply the throttle off the line?

 

Long-*** burnouts for seasoning and when I had a stock torque converter I left on it (around 1600 RPM).

My QTPs definately got better with time. I just ordered new ones for this season and I have to start all over again.

I had trouble getting use to them too.
First time out was Cecil this yr and the Captain kept laughing because I would do like a 2500 rpm slow burnout for like 3 seconds.
Somehow I did manage (2) 1.6 60ft times the first two times I ran them. I now have (7) 1.7 60 ft times on them too.

I heat those bad boys up
I don't touch my gas pedal til it's time to go
when it's time
I remove foot from brake
and put that peddle through the floor boards
