We should've gotten the Mach 1000 system in our Ls!
 

My friend just got his new Mustang GT. Brand new 03 black 5 spd, Bullit wheels, leather, Mach 1000....out the door for 21k on x-plan.

Anyway, he turned on the Mach 1000 for me since I hadn't heard one yet (heard a 460 and it wasn't impressive at all). Well, it blew me away for a factory system! It has 2 10 inch subs on each side of the trunk and 4 seperate amps! 6 disc in-dash changer too! The subs hit pretty low and were responsive! Wish our trucks came with an option like that :(

Oh well, I left his house with a big smokey burn out so he would get a little envious too :devil:

I had the 460 in my old gt and it was way... way... better than the stock lightning system. I thought it was pretty nice. I jsut hooked up 2 subs and an amp and ran the stock speakers and it sounded good to me. I wish the L was that good. I would be happy.

I had the 460 in my Cobra and it was awesome.
I don't know if all 460's have the set of speakers at ear level in the window area like the Cobra's did. But that made the whole system. That 460 would have been awesome in the L.

The lightning system leaves something to be desired. Im quite surprised of some of the cutting the did with the truck compared to the cobra. If you want to hear an impressive system, check out what comes in the SVT Focus.. Its identical to the Mach 1000 aside from having just one sub. The SVTF is quite an impressive package for $18K, esp since i got it for $14K :devil:

Haven't installed the system yet, still putting it together. I could have bought an engine for what I've got in the stereo system so far (and I still don't have the subs and sub amplifier). So far I have the Denon DZT deck; TruTechnology Copper Series amp and Rainbow Reference componenet speakers (yes the ones they only made a 100 sets of and come in a steel case with white gloves).:D

Once I am done and assuming the install is good, I think I will have a pretty good SQ system.:banana:

Yea, i walked in Jan 3rd looking for a Cobra. The guys were being completes ****s, so i bailed... I had $36K cash on me. So im crusing down the main highway and decided to stop at this other dealer. I walked over and saw the prostitute red SVTF sitting there. I went for a test drive and was impressed with it. Unfortunately, i wasnt going to buy a red one and its was the only one they had.

Next day, i hit my local dealer. I didnt go the day before because they didnt have any slobras in stock, but plenty of foci and L's. I was checking out the 03 Foci's with the Projector HID's and all they had were 5 doors. I was getting ready to walk off and the guy says hey, i got sonic blue 3 door, but its an 02... Im like, well lemme see it.

Ford was offering $2000 rebates on the SVT Foci's. So i asked to see the sales manager. After bickering and showing my wallet, i got it out the door for $15483. Im going to trade up when the turbo focus comes out though,.

I wish my Cobra came with the 1000. The 460 sounds great to me when compared to the Lightning's sound system. I think I may just have some1 throw a sub and an amp in the trunk for good measures. I believe if you do a factory order on a 03 Cobra you can get the 1000 system. Not 100% sure though. :confused: -Mat-

Turbo Focus? :confused: PLEASE say they are adding AWD too!!

I dont think they will go AWD because of the power/price war with the SRT 4.. Coletti's rule is " No one shall take our thrown with speciality vehicles in any catagory ". Since dodge has PVO and Toyota and Mazda have their own vehicle teams, Ford will stay competitive in that sense.
