well, doesnt this suck...

i drove down to phoenix yesterday.

on the way down, i looked over at my wife and said, "ya know, i should have..., nevermind."

she said, "what, you have to tell me now."

so i proceed to tell her that i left my spare tire and jack at home. (im sure you can see where this story is going)

well, we are on the highway between nowhere and nowhere else. on the 93 south in the middle of the desert. then i hear my front tire pop. i pull over and remain calm. ya right, i beat the crap out of an innocent bush.

so, i decide to flag down another f150 and offer to buy his spare tire off of him. the 1st truck i see stops. he didn't speak a lick of english. anyway, i held up $200 and pointed at his spare and jack. i guess he agreed because i took it frm him. then, because of where we were, the POS jack wouldnt go high enough to raise my truck.

my wife then noticed a house up the street. (remember, we were in the middle of NOWHERE) so she ran over and asked for a floor jack. he had one and came over and helped us change the tire. so, after an hour in 100 + degree temp, we were back on our way.

we got to phoenix safely, took some showers and started feeling a little better. i decided to go up to the gas station to pick up an 18 pack of coors light in the can. there were some people standing in front of the store. i didnt want them to see my crippled truck, so i pulled up with the spare facing away from them.(still thinking "im the *****, i have a lightning") i hopped out of the truck and one of the guys says, "thats a really nice truck. did you know you have a flat tire?" so, i walk around my truck and see that my other front tire is flat. im sure you all can imagine how happy i am at the site of this. i filled it back up with air and drove to my friends house. by the time i got there, it was flat again.

my friend down here used to work for discount tire so at noon today, i get 2 new tires at the wonderful cost of $250 a piece.

i dont really have a moral to this travisty of a story. i guess if i had to think of on it would be "stay in school"

...chris

FastAsL:

I feel for you guy...my last 2 L's, Cobra, Bullitt ALL got at least one flat tire a year (road construction) and it can be embarassing...my last flat was a right front sidewall puncture at the ending Ga tailgate party at UGA......everyone there has admired my 01 Silver L...even had a special parking space up on a pretty grass hill...was leaving at the end of the game...going down the grass hill...gently crossing a curb to get to the main road...and then proceded down the road with hundreds of people
looking at me rather funny...the truck was doing that hateful up/down motion from a stone cold flat...just limping like a dying frog...
I was embarassed...most important-you and your family are ok...the tire can easily be replaced...good luck!

That's why on my time off, whenever possible, I stay home.

I took my spare, jack, and hitch off right after I got my L.. went 42,300 on the original F1s with no flats . Bought my TOYOs and 5,000 miles later, had them rotated(free). Drove 4 miles back to work and the rt. frt. looked low but you know how radials 'look' so I drove it home. It had 12 psi in it. Pumped it up and the next day, drove it to the shop and they pulled a 4" framing nail out and plugged it. Still no spare though .

Sorry to here. That just plain sucks, especially the second one. OUCH.

I always keep my Hoosiers and a jack and Impact gun, just in case.

i was going to get some 555r's. but, my friend had already ordered new tires for me. i just had them put on. $500 later and my truck looks as good as new.

the funny thing is, i didnt even care about spending the $$. i just wanted my truck to lok good again.

...chris

BTW...vinnie...the flames look great. as soon as i get my SM roll pan and new hood, i was thinking about some darker silver ghost flames.
