There is a reason why Bassani cost more than Flowmaster.

yeah because people will over pay for something if it comes from Italy. The quality of the welds and such only get so good. Flowmasters are very nice quality, they just dont come with big chrome tips with their name sand blasted into the chrome. Buy a cat-back because its well made and it sounds good...not because you think you can gain hp from it or it costs more...just make sure your not losing hp (which is very possible and more likely than substancial gains from a cat back alone)

I have a Flowmaster 2 in-out & whilst it sounds great at idle & lower RPMs, once you step on it the sound changes as though someone has stuffed a rag inside! I am changing to dual Magnaflows very soon!

I see where alot of you have had flowmasters bolted on but the real question is to see if flowmaster actually made a new cat-back for our trucks or just used mufflers they already had.

We picked up about 7hp with the Bassani cat back alone on a stock truck, and there is no way you can compare the quality of Bassani with Flowmaster.

I don't really care what anybody decides to run on thier truck, but there is a quality differance, and that is why there is a price differance.

so you spent 600+ dollars for 7 hp .. As for quality differences, as long as the metal is welded clean and the install isnt a pain, then its a quality system. We are ONLY talking about cat back systems here, they arent exactly going to give you hp you NOTICE either way. If it sounds good on all rpms to you, you dont lose power, and it installs easy, then where is that other $300 going? Tips? I hope you shine them every day if thats the case.

My point was that just a catback can pick up power if it is the right catback, but I agree that spending $600 for 7hp seems foolish, but no more than the $1800 that some spend for 20hp.

The bottom line is long after the Flowmaster has rusted off the truck, the Bassani will still look new, but hey buy what you like.

What the hell do I know.

no rust here...I rust proof everything before it gets installed. The bassani will rust, I have seen many used ones for sale coverd in rust. The tips are the only thing that dont usually.

just out of curiousity, what costs 1800 bux and nets 20hp?

Konig, Thanks for trying to get the sounclip.
As far as exhaust systems go I guess I really didn't want everyone to get all spun up. I was really interested in this new flowmaster cat-back being offered. I want to compare it to what flowmaster has out as opposed to what they claim is new. As our trucks get older more and more companies will offer mods for our vehicles and this is a good thing since prices will drop. Thanks for all the replies!!! This website Kicks-*ss!
