Question Question On Wiring Intercooler Pump Switch!

I am getting ready to wire up an intercooler switch and want to make sure that I am wiring it up right. I have a 3 position toggle switch. I am going to run 1 wire to a ground, 1 wire to a power source and the accessory (middle positon) to the white wire that is running directly to the intercooler pump with a fused link installed in the middle of this wire. Is this correct? Also with the switich in the off position will the pump still work as normal during everyday driving?

no

wire it this way...

connect wire from positive on solenoid to an ato fuse holder, with a 20 amp fuse (I believe). Then wire the other end of the fuse holder to an on/off toggle switch. Then run the other end of the switch down to the white wire on the pump. What this does is manually supply power to the power line when the truck is off.....the pump will already be grounded from the oem harness.

Some guys have screwed their wiring up trying to wire the pump the wrong way, I have had this for about a year now and no problems, i believe Don's Bolt has it the same.

If you are worried about feedback into the stock harness, just put a diode on the white wire to the pump, behid where you tapped in. I don't believe there is any need for this though.

Did you use a wire tap or did you solder the wire on the pump?

wire taps

wire taps are evil. Should never use them where they can be exposed to the elements.

This is how i did mine.I just ran the one wire to the realy as shown in the pic then to the switch that is mounted in the holes in the fender from the factory. Then just ground the other end of the switch. For more pics or info check out my gallery or email me at bolenjo@bellsouth.net

Location of switch is for ease in understanding only. My 20 amp
3-way switch is mounted on the firewall. This switch allows you
to get power from the factory [motor on] or switch to a seperate
15 amp fused hot wire [black] that you can run out of the fuse box for motor off circulation. Only cut the white hot wire to the motor. By seperating the two hot legs theirs no backfeed or
computer issues.
