4v heads possible?(engine guru's)
OK engine Guru's here is one for you:
take the heads off a navigator, (4v)
put them on a lightning with the supercharger.
is it possible?
will it fit?
will you ever be able to change the plugs again?
would 4v be better than 2v ported and polished?
what does a lightning make for power without a supercharger?
what does a navigator make?
what is the air flow of 4v heads compared to 2v compared to 2v ported and polished?
perhaps this could be an answer to big HP?

Ya you can't use the cobra intake. Sean Hyland sells a 4v Lightning engine less supercharger for around 12k I think. They had to pretty much custom make a lower intake for it cause they said alot of cutting and welding. So if you can find someone to do some custom work on the lower intake then you should be straight.
The easiest way to do that would be to buy a kit for a navigator and use that with a new blower and all. that would work out great probably.

It can be done, but the intake is the challenge. I've had a handfull of people contact me about doing a 4V motor, and I told each one of them I could build the intake, but so far nobody I've talked to has chosen to go forward with a 4V project. I've done some pre-fabrication work on a 4V intake, it wouldn't be hard for me to do, it's just invovled. I've seen a few custom "hack job" intakes for that application, but none of them are anything I'd put on one of my customers trucks.

The quickest way to solve the manifold problem would be to buy two Cobra manifolds and split them both down the middle. If you did the offsets right and made some nice fixtures I bet you could come up with one nice manifold that would fit the 5.4 or if you could make a spacer from sheet aluminum and tig weld it back together then you would only need to cut one manifold.
I say this cause I've done it before. It was a few years ago but that is how we went from an offcenter to and oncenter block with the turbo buicks.

Youre looking at $3500 no matter what just for a manifold. Your not guaranteed 100% equal flow by doing it either. Its a gamble you have to be willing to take. When youre already shelling out $4000 for a shortblock, that $3500 could be used for a better blower. Then comes the heartache of tuning it. Someday it will happen.... That day will come when Ford releases the part #'s on the GT 5.4 S/C engine
Well splitting it and rewelding it sounds a hell of a lot easier said then done.
Machine shop or not, theres a lot of work involved. I figure just hold out and wait for the Ford part #... Be a hell of a lot cheaper anyhow.
