We're supposed to get 8 inches of snow tonight!!!
That’s not good, it snowed a little yesterday and I had to go to the dr. The roads were a little slushy, and it looks liked there was less than a half an inch on the ground, and i was sliding all over the place. I put in the 2 inch lowering shackles in the back, does that HURT traction in the snow? Because it really seamed worse than normal. This time i would be driving going like 10-15 miles an hour and every time my truck shifted gears, even at 1,000-1,500 rpm, the back end would kick out. I think i got a hang of it last night, but that was only an inch of snow. How am i going to survive up to 8 inches? I've already made arrangements to get a ride to work tomorrow if it snows tonight. Any more advice for me, other than keep the L parked in the snow?
Thanks, Shane https://www.f150online.com/galleries...3547-51026.jpg https://www.f150online.com/galleries...3547-51028.jpg https://www.f150online.com/galleries...3547-51029.jpg |
i actually enjoy driving in the snow because i bought the snow tires!
i figure when it snows lets try them out because thats what i bought them for, the nice days are the days i hate driving with them because the appearance of the truck stinks. were suppose to get anywhere from 2-6 tonight in michigan. i gotta get new bolts for the snowblower though! the one side keeps breaking bolts! |
Gotta love Chicago weather. 8-12" of snow in March. That's why I bought my wife a Jeep Wranger:D No problems in the snow for me. Shane did you ever take out your chip? I would seriously consider getting a beater next yr. L's and snow do not mix very well, especially if you are modded.

no i never had time to get the chip out. i was real sick yesterday and had to go to the dr. i came home at 8 and layed in bed. I am going to try tonight.
is it true those shackles hurt my traction in rain/snow? |

my truck is tucked away in the garage.... Im driving my girlfriends car... :rocker:

I use bags of sand from Home Depot, I have 5 and sometimes use only 3, and when it's bad, I use all 5. it does help alot, but thats providing it's nice dry snow, the wet stuff and ice has proven to be outright impossible this winter here in NY and I was forced to go get a Winter Beater. Got it for Free so I can't complain. Sand is @2.00 a bag at Home Depot, hope this helps Rob |

We got 5-6 inches and we're supposed to get another 1-2 today. The roads are already clear, but i kept it in the garage and got a ride to work. Just getting up the driveway and into the garage today took me 45 minutes. I came less than 1/4 of an inch away a few times to hitting the side of the garage frame. I'd get half way in and be going straight, and all the sudden, my back end would go side ways for no reason. I'd be flooring it in some spots and going no where, then it'd grip onto dry pavement and it would start squealing the tires. So now there’s my tracks all over the driveway and little black tire marks threw out the drive way. No matter how much i shoveled out of the way, it was still horrible.
