I traded in my L Saturday; You'll like it's replacement though!!

Well.............believe you me, as the weekend neared, the only plans I had in mind were to go to FFW in Orlando with my L........I've had my 4# pulley for less than a month, and I wanted to run it at the track for the first time with it. Due to several reasons, I didn't head up and stayed in town, and went to Maroone Ford to kill some time. An hour later I'm test driving a 2003 Torch Red Mach I Stang, and unbelievably, 5 hours later I'm transferring all my personal belongings out of the Lightning into the trunk of the Mach I.

Yep............I did it.........I couldn't believe it, but I did..........I miss my L like you won't believe, but I don't regret it, and I love the new car, and driving stick is God Sent

Bottomline is as follows..........my payoff was 18,700 on the L, they gave me 23,250........had 12,500 miles, and pristine condition........I could have asked for more, and was honestly expecting 24,500 for it, but they did give me $40 over X-plan price (yes he did show me the invoice pricing), and therefore I ended up with the exact same payment as on the Lightning, with no extra money out of pocket.

The Mach I is stupendous...........it's basically a Cobra, minus the Eaton, and feels a tad quicker/faster than the older '01 Cobras. It's definitely an eyecatcher, and I'm pretty sure it's the first one sold down here in South Fla......cause nobody has seen one before.

Definitely not the same kind of "slam your head" type of torque the L had, but once I get the hang of launching in a stick (haven't done it since the age of 16), I'm sure it'll hold it's own. I'd say well driven, the car will be just a tad slower than my L was before the pulley.........Once I get this baby some bolt ons though, and I can learn to launch it properly, I'm sure 12-second timeslips won't be too difficult, and I plan to get there Un-BLOWN. Other than exhaust, intake, tranny and suspension work, I don't want to do much else. I think if done right (read: REM and Steeda :D ), I'm sure it'll be attainable.

I will always be on here, cause I love this board, and I love to read about my first true muscle vehicle, which was the L. Plus, the miriads of soap operas that have developed here, are fun to keep track of.

Please see Ebay, and the classifieds for my mods in the coming days, and of course PICS of my new 305HP, 2003 Torch Red Mustang Mach I.

thanks for everything guys, and I will still be around.

JC

Yeah when i stopped in the dealership (nail in tire) they had one in the showroom.. salesman was tryin to sell it to me but had no performance #'s . Also he did not know if it was the same crank, rods ,pistons etc that are in the cobra engine. If it is the same engine, i wonder if the kbell blower would produce the same 700 RWHP???

Nice trade..definately a nice car...thought about trading my mustang in on it but I would miss the convertible too much..plus they were trying to sell it for the same price as the cobra coupe! Keep us posted on your project and new ride...

PICS?

Thanks guys...............I'll have pics by Tuesday......I gotta get a digital camera from work.

I don't believe it has the same built bottom end of the Cobra, but it is the same Cobra Engine from the previous snake.........so it does have TONS more potential than say a GT 4.6!

Because of the Shaker Hood, I don't think an Eaton would fit........but if I ever decide to go crazy, I'll get the engine built right, and throw a Vortech S-trim on there..........that'll make me smile a little bit.............MAybe I'll give beefcake a call and ask him how he got a 10-second monster out of his old Snake. :D

I can all but guarantee you I'll be back with another L..........There's nothing in the world that would keep me from buying the '05 model if it's anything like what they're promising.......hopefully a year and a half from now I'll be able to shell out another 600 or so a month for one of those, WITHOUT having to give up the Mach I. Hell, if I didn't have my life's savings tied up in my pre-construction single family home, while still shelling out $1245 worth of mortgage every month, I think both cars would have been manageable even now........but oh well...............Have to be reasonable, and go with the heart.

Like a robotic man once said...........I'LL BE BACK!!! in 2005!!! 500HP and 500TQ.............are you *****tin' me? How could I not.

Mecca..........Give me a couple days, and I'll shoot you an email

It does have potential, and with a few parts it will impress. I had a 97 Cobra and after bolting on an S-trim kit from Vortech I was able to run with the best of them. The engine/block you have is better than I had, so I think your chances of building a "hot rod" are pretty good. I don't remember right off the top if my head, is it equipped with the T-56 tranny?
