Wham!!! It's Gone !!!
Well, I pulled onto one of our major roads and got on
it and there was this LOUD bang, and then STRAIGHT PIPES!!! Seems the front of the Bassani X-pipe ejected itself from the engine!!! Broke the rubbber "dogbones" and scuffed up the front clamps before I could stop. At least it stayed attached to the truck. Dang, doesn't anyone read instructions on putting these things on? It looks like the X-pipe is upside down. Doesn't the Bassani label go on the BOTTOM????? Back to teh FORD garage in the AM. Thanks for your help ... CLIFF WITH A VERY LOUD TRUCK!!! <actually it freaking blows your ears off!!!> ps....Thanks for your help too, Crazyone !!! |
whoa
i can remember reading back a long while ago of a couple of bassinni systems blowing off, and there was a big discussion one whether or not to tack them in along with the clamps, or full weld them. Not starting any flames, just saying it's not the first bassinni or any cat back to blow off. At least it's in one piece and not destroyed.
Good luck!! |
Tallimeca,
I think your right ... of course misinstalling them could have a lot to do with that. One of the LEGS on the Xpipe seems to be shorter to fit the longer pipe coming off the cats. At best a BEEFIER set of clamps would help ... |
They probably used the Bassani clamps:mad:
|
yeah ditch those *****ty Bassani clamps and get some regular U type ones. Mine shot off like 3 times the day it was installed. Lucky for me the rubber hangers held it up so I didn't run the damn thing over.

My full bassani hasnt technicall come off yet, but i have some black residue around where the x pipe is, a small exhaust leak.
The exhaust is the only thing i havent dont myself, and i think they used the bassani clamps. also, DO NOT REUSE YOUR CRAPPY RUBBER STOCK EXHAUST HANGERS! Get some that have metal reinforments in them! I was driving around for miles with my exhaust hanging an inch from the ground before i found out. Ill probably put some better clamps on it eventually. Or leave them as is and get a PSP DS loop that would hold up the exhaust if something happened. |

scuse me spank
i mean the rubber hanger deals, not metal editing post... |
Get that mother welded up, at least tack weld it.
Bassani's arn't the only ones that have blown off, I heard a few stock cat backs blew off. |
Oh......thats weird.....my bassani ones were crappy rubber and my stock ones have the metal in them....

Did you get a little rattled when the blew? Send me a e-mail. Pat.:rocker: |
hangers
my stock hangers have metal reinforcements............
How come that picture shows the exhaust so ****ed sideways??? Is that just a catback or full exhaust. If it is catback, how in the hell did you get your stock midpipes to twist like that???? |
