F1's VS 555's and best price location?
I am almost ready for tires and want a real world opinion of the F1's vs 555's. I like the F1's but of the 555's offer any performance gains it would be nice. They appear to be about the same price (198 vs 207).

Just replaced my F1s with a set of 555 and here's my inputs:
- The Nitto have a stiffer sidewall. Using the same pressure (32) on F1s, I can feel the truck floats a bit longer before it settles down. The 555 feels much more solid. Truck definitely feels more solid going around corners on 555s. - Dry traction is about the same between the F1 and 555. - Wet traction better on the F1. - Noise level is about the same between the two. - I never liked the "ribbed" F1 sidewall, so personally, I like the sidewall and thread of the 555 better. |
Where do you buy the 555's?

I just got 2 555's in the back and i think they are great, plus they look better. Discount tire direct has em....

if you ever drive your L in the rain, i wouldn't get the 555dr's, just stick with the 555's
but if you could care less about slipping all over the place go for it haha. i think i'm just going with 555's or sticking with f1's f1's since i would only have to switch out two at a time, fronts to the back and new ones in the fronts. save me some $$$ |
i hardly drive in the rain and i'm pretty easy on the throttle when i do. I will probably avoid it even more with DRs.
I've even thought about running around the street on ET Streets but I'm afraid I wear them down way too fast. plus i still want considerable top speed for those midnight highway blasts on 465 :p |

How does the treadwear compare between F1s and 555s?

 The Toyo's 295/45/18's work great also. The added benifit to the Toyo's if you live in a snow area! They are rated all season, plus are outstanding in the rain. ;) Artie

I have had the 555R's on the rear of my truck since they came out. I daily drive in Florida where it rains a LOT. No problems in the rain with the DR's at all. You just have to not drive like an *******.:fyi:
