well as Joe Millionaire would say, "i'm dumb founded"....

well, after the numerous threads i've started by saying "my truck wont start" im sure all of you are sick of all the threads. but hopefully this will be the final one.

well after reading all your replys on my latest one. one of you came up with a very good suggestion, that i was getting no spark, and i thought the same thing, when this first happened, in the back of my mind i thought it was the plugs. so i figured maybe i got some water in there or something from all my car washes lately, i was washing it like 3-4 times a week (touchless) w/ a dryer that got most the water off but not all, in 25 degree and most times below weather. i would go to it, then i would drive off, and by the time i reparked the truck, the water that was left on the car was frozen, mostly on the hood and tailgate. so i was thinking maybe some water got in the plug holes or something. so i pulled 2 plugs on each side, and they looked fine, no water in the holes, or anything, but on some of them the tip was alittle white (dont know if that means anything) i blew out the holes with the blow gun anyway, and put them back. then i checked all other connections, radio connections, subwoofer amp, and power inverter, and everthing looked fine, nothing fried. so maybe if i give it a break from getting washed and let everything dry... it will be ok...

oh and i forgot, when i got in the truck to start it and pull it in the garage, i thought to myself, "i'll bet you 5 bucks it's not gonna start", i put the key in and turned and waa la, stated....

so maybe this will all go away, and maybe not....

as Joe Millionaire would say, "im dumb founded" (and all the other big words he uses to make him self look dumb, by not knowing the meaning)

I'd ask if your dealer has one of these:

before asking for them to be replaced...........

Ummmm you blew air around in there with the plugs OUT?
I thought you were supposed to blow before you removed?
Hope nothing got blown in there ...

i dont think so, cause when i replaced the plugs in the stang, i was reading the manual to see if they had torque specs in there, and they said, remove plug, blow in hole to make sure there is no debris in there, and replace with new plug........ so im pretty sure thats what your supposed to do. now you got me confused.

LIGHTNINROD Feb 7, 2003 07:41 PM

BEFORE you aim compressed air into the plug's hole, you should remove the coil pack and then aim the air into the hole--with the plug still in the head. You might just break the plug loose one turn to get any dirt out that was under the plug's 'seat' but never blow air into a plugless hole. The dirt/grit is going down into the combustion chamber if you do. You want to force the dirt up and out of the plug area not into the chamber.

cobra97snake,
I'm sure you have checked just about everything on the truck. I'll send a few more your way that couldn't hurt. If you haven't checked your crank sensor you should. The gap between the end of the C/S and timing ring on the crank must be (0.5 - 2) The torque on the bolt is 8-12nm. Make sure it's not loose.

un-plug the crank sensor and make sure the pins are pushed in all the way and locked in the connector. Trace the wire harness from the C/S up to the main part of the engine harness and make sure it didn't chafe and make ground.

Next, pull your PCM and check all the pins to make sure none are bent or broke when the engine harness was pushed on to it. They bend and break easy when not lined up.

Your not getting a PIP signal to the PCM to fire the coils. Process of elimination. Check the Crank sensor, connector and the connection at the PCM.

I'm in Livonia. If you need help or not sure of something e-mail me at slightning01@aol.com

I have the schematics for the engine & trans harnesses.

Thor. :rocker:
