Putting two 12's in truck, need help
 

Hey Stereo guys,

I'm putting 2 12' JL w3's in the truck powered with an MA Audio 1500 w amp, and a Alpine Screen/DVD player.

My question is more centered around the subs.

I know they are big for what little air space that we have, but

What kind of sound quality/performance will I be getting? Will it sound good with the type of music I listen to (where would the subs fall short and sound like crap and need to be turned down or off)? (I've mainly seen subs used for people who listen to mostly rap, but I mean it when I say I listen to EVERYTHING!!! {yes, even Opera when I'm stressed})

Also, if you have any ideas on how to build the box so it gives it as much air space as possible with out loosing too much leg room. I'm pretty lucky only being 5'11", so I usually move my seat up 3 "clicks" (or counting in seconds). I don't care to much about the passenger seat since well, I'm never in it, and my girlfriend is 5'7" . I know my new CD changer is going under the center seat, should I place the amp under the passenger seat? or attached to the box? I think I"ll be putting my PS2 in it soon after as well.

Marcus, the box should be easy. Just pull the back panel out and make the box go all the way across between the two corner trim pieces, all the way up to the metal cross section and wide as the raised area. This way you won't lose any leg room. And just make the face slanted so you'll have enough room for the sub depth and keep the angle so that you can recline your seat and not hit the sub at full excursion. As for the amps, either under the pass seat with the jack relocated or on an amp rack that sits above the box.

you'll have plenty of space back there with the w3s....just make sure you go by JL's recommended space for a sealed enclosure and you'll be fine..


i've been toy with a pair of downfiring W7 13s myself...however i was told that they sound best in ported boxes....
