After installation of the new pcm, your PATS system must be programmed for it using the Ford NGS tool. Locksmiths have a version of the NGS that will allow them to do this. You will also need to make sure that the locksmith clears out any stored codes after programming, as it will store one. Make sure he also follows the correct procedure for PATS programming, as they may attempt to do it not realizing the pcm has been replaced. If he follows the conventional method of reprogramming the PATS for a lost key, or new key, it will not work. The majority of locksmiths have never dealt with PATS programming after computer replacement. If you need exact steps so you can give to a locksmith, if this need ever arrives, then ask and I will post them.
Do not forget to remove your pcm calibration sticker from your passenger side door and replace it with the new one that is supplied with the new pcm, as the serial numbers on this tag do match up to the serial numbers of the tag that is on the J3 port cover of the pcm.
The price of a new pcm normally runs approximately $240 from any Ford dealer. They will charge you a core charge of $100, usually, if you do not have a pcm to return back in the new packaging that comes with the new pcm. My suggestion is to keep both processors. Though, you will need your PATS system reprogrammed if you do swap in your original processor again.

1) Install new PCM
2) Use service Card V4.0 or higher.
Select:
a) Service Bay Functions
b) HEC (for Mustang, Town Car, Expedition, F-150/250, and Navigator)
c) Enter Security Access (10 minute delay)
d) Parameter Reset (DO NOT perform any other selections)
3) Turn ignition OFF and disconnect DLC.
4) Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times, each time leaving the ignition in RUN for at least 3 seconds, and OFF for at least 2 seconds. This initializes the PCM/PATS and now PID PCM_ID = STORED. Theft indictator should prove-out for 3 seconds and vehicle will start.
Your spare key will be programmed as well.
Thanks for posting the PCM reprogram info.
I tried plugging in the recalibrator for an EEIV and of course it would not read.....Must be what left all them scratches...
Glad we can do self mainenance even with warranty issues.
When\if Diablo comes out with a tool for the Ford stuff will use be illegal..or at least considered a reason to void by Ford?

as I many of us have never used an NGS before, how exactly do you clear codes, and also, when you speak of security access, is there a code you need to punch in, or is this just an option to select.

possibly I have the wrong card in use, there is not specific 5.4 lightning selection, however there is an f150 5.4 selection. it seems to say its version 20 or something along those lines.
I can get to the HEC under diagnostics monitoring, however none of the selection mentioned in these instructions look familiar at all
please help if anyone can.
