Talking Noel and others who need SPAL fan info.....

I bought the fans from JayCorp. They are a great company to deal with and I would not hesitate to use them again. I got 2 6.5" pullers PN 30100402. A 6.5" fan is the largest that will fit without any overhang on the stock exchanger. If JDM's is bigger I would suggest getting the 7.5" ones PN 30100358.

More info in next post.........

To properly install them I used the fan mounting pin kit. You will need 1 kit per fan. The kit comes with pins, rubber washers, and retainers.

Fans installed......notice the 4 small pins on each corner of the fan.

I hooked them up to a single 20amp fuse/lighted switch and mounted it under my dash so I could turn them on whenever I want. Each fan only pulls like 6.5 amps so I just spliced the wires into 2 main 12 gauge wire and ran the necessary wires to power, ground etc.

More info in next post.......

Here is what you will get when you order the fan and kit.....

That packet contains the mounting kit. The fan is pre-wired up to that white plug. Just run your wires off there..........you can see how I did in my other picture.

Any questions feel free to ask

I love Vinnies tie mounts, that's the only reason I was gonna order the fans. Quick and easy. I guess since I don't have any little white plugs I just cut them off and solder on my connecting wires or do they give you a connecting plug with open wire ends?

Wonder where you can buy the mating end to the white plug at? It would be nicer to have a connection in case you have to remove a fan for some reason.

Noel,

I can easily remove my wiring harness for my fans. There are 2 prongs inside that white plug (1+ and 1-). Just go to a local parts store like AutoZone, Pep Boys etc and get a couple female connectors. They are the same type of connector that you hook onto 3 prongs of the main electric fan.

Here is a pic of the connectors that go right into the white plug.......

And I thought you Texas guys knew your stuff

Anything else let me know.....

Thanks for the info. 2 questions though. Soap is your fans mounted on stock heat exchanger? And Vinnie is your fans on a JDM unit and what size are your fans?

Yes and Yes.......VINNIE has the same 6.5" fans as me......that's why I suggested using the 7.5" ones with the JDM exchanger, you can see all the extra clearance his has. Mine are right at the top and bottom of the stock unit.

Yea, I got those connectors here at the house, however doing it that way is not watertight and requires taping the plug and input wires to keep the moisture out whereas a correct plug would do the same thing easier.

True.
As a note I wired my electric fan and IC fans this same way and never had one problem even after washing the engine compartment on a daily basis
