What did you use to pull the top one off???
the u shaped pulley puller just uses that block to push it back on when you tighten the nut down. There should be instructions with the kit for it.
I have pictures that might help from when I did mine..
Make sure the Motor is ice cold when you do it.
This is the set up I have, South Florida Pulley Headquarters
Dial-Ur-Boost System.

It comes off very easy, you did that already I assume

To put the new one on (or the hub in my case) You don't use the U-Shaped back plate. You set it up as you see in the picture BELOW. You screw the pilot screw, thats at the end of the long threaded rod, into the upper pulley shaft (where the orig screw came out from)
make sure you use the washer. Notice how far apart the nuts are on my shaft, that should give you an idea of how it starts off.
As you pull it off more and more, you will eventually have to remove the pilot screw, take off the washer, and screw the pilot screw back in without the washer for the last 1/2 inch or so.The Whole trick is to MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TWO OF THE BIGGEST WRENCHES YOU CAN FIND (box end) Then MAKE SURE YOU """DO NOT"" allow the big threaded rod shaft to turn at all, if it does you will snap the pilot screw off in the upper shaft (I DID) Good thing it came out by hand.
You are basically screwing the pilot in, holding the large threaded rod from moving at all with one wrench, and turning the other nut on the large threaded rod, which in turn is pulling the old pulley off. Hope that makes sence

When your done, the hub (if you have one) should look like this.
Don't push it on too much or your in trouble. it should be flush with the end of the shaft

Then put one of your uppers on

Put the belt on, the original screw back in the upper shaft, and your done.

You will absolutely Love the Upper Pulley. I won't go into it here because only a few understand, but it's a little differant concept than the bottom. Because it's less rotational mass, you'll have quicker Boost Up than a 2lb lower, and it's a better combo with a Lower later (I use a 4lb lower + 2-3lb Upper).
Good Luck
