Wow, my interest in getting a 3rd gen just dropped off. DOHC, 32v, twin screw...all great things. They ruin the package by making it a 2 seater. Does the shifter REALLY need its own seat?

well as far as the supercooler, I could not find it while looking, but there is a strange bright red button on the dash but they only told me it was 'an experimental feature'.

I'm glad it'll be a 2-seater. Go buy a beater 4-door if you want to seat more than 2.

Some of us would prefer to buy a 3 seater 'beater' lightning for our daily driving

Excellent Post Goat,
Great descriptive report, THANKS BRO

I'm sure there are a few on the streets doing secrete testing,
shouldn't be long now before the spy shots start coming in, WOO HOO.

Funny how just the other night I mentioned in a post about how easy it would be to add a seat or two in a mini extended cab without turning it into a big ugly full cab truck, maybe they're considering that option ???

Again Great Post, THANKS YOU LUCKY BASTARD

Count me in as another that DOES NOT want a 2 seater.

Cool (no pun intended)

As for the two seats vrs three... empty nester here. Don't need three although it does come in handy but most of the time... 99.999%... I only use one!!!

Very reliable source tells me
1. NO supercooler
2. Manual only in year 1-May change, but right now that's how it's looking.

Hopefully they do some real tricked out skirting and other body molding. The new 04 body style is butt ugly. It is as if no one had any ideas for a nice body style and just stamped every thing nice straight and ugly and/or to save cost.

I know many of you love this new “concept” Gen III Lightning but I just do not see it meeting the Gen II style and character of our current body style. Everything flows so well and looks right. The new one, again for me, is butt ugly and the reason I went out and bought a Gen II.

Hopefully Ford will allow some professional body designers get a hold of this thing and correct the major mistakes they made with the new 04 and using grade school kids to design the current ugly *** body style.

And GOD please don’t let them stick the BIG *** Ford advertisement emblem in the middle of the tailgate…

Question Did it have

a 4-speed or 5-speed auto ?
IRS?
Did it look like you could get a really wide rim under the fender ?
On the current (04) vehicle, it seems like the shock will limit the max wheel/tire width.

Oh yeah, I need 3 seats as well...
