Smile Fellow King Ranchers! Who wants to visit the King Ranch in Texas?

Hey fellow King Ranchers,

I got a suggestion from a fellow F-150 friend in Texas that it might be a good idea to gather a gaggle of KR trucks up and we all meet at the King Ranch in Texas. It would be kind of like gathering up a herd of cattle and going back to the ranch.

I know, I'm crazy as he// but I just love to get you guys a thinkin'. I wonder if Hoss, Little Joe and Ben from that show called Bonanza would be agreeable too?

Imagine the photo that it would make! Ford would probably want to get in on that one 'cause the publicity would be good for them as well.

What do you guys think?
If agreeable, what would be a good time to do something like that? This would have to be a serious compromise as I'm sure not everyone would want to go at the same time.

I work almost all the time and need some excuse to go way the he// away so I don't have to worry with my stressful manufacturing job.

Here is a link to the King Ranch Saddle Shop. I think you can navigate to all that the Ranch has to offer from this link:

Hey Bronco,

Cool, I'm looking into the details with the Ranch. I've never done anything like this before so I'm sure I will probably need some help to pull this one off for sure. Any KR guys/gals who are travel agents or master planners too?

Hey everyone else,

I wrote an email to King Ranch to get their take on the idea and as soon as they reply I'll tell you what they said.

How far would you guys have to go to get to King Ranch from your house?

I checked out Expedia.com and to go from my door step to the Ranch is a little over 1300 miles and they estimated a little more than 21 hours. Man, sounds like a real adventure and there would be no turning back. Sure would help to know there was a whole gang of folks heading the same way so you wouldn't feel so alone doing something crazy like this.

Talk real soon,
DaveMan

I wounder if Hoss, Little Joe and Ben from that show called Ponderosa would be agreeable too?

DaveMan,

Ponderosa was the ranch, Bonanza was the show.....1959-1973

I am 2617.6 miles away. It looks like it will take me 44 hours and 19 minutes to get there.

Assuming 14mpg, I should only need 373 gallons to get there and back. At an average of $1.40/gallon it will only cost $523 in gas.

I would love to visit the great state of Texas. I lived there as a very young boy. It would be like going home.

Now I just need to figure out how to get out of work and sneak away from family duties for a week...

C'mon Logical,

You aren't that much different in age than me, are you? I'd take the trip in a minute and he//, it'll probably make you feel younger just to have one or two more adventures under your belt before you throw in the towel. You were more of an influence on me getting a KR than anyone else on this site, eventhough all the KR folks played a role. Now if we form a "possy", I guess that's how you spell it, we will be missing you.

Hey Webmaster,

Thanks for moving this thread over to the new KR section. I guess you are getting my mails after all. If I don't get a response on other ones I'll just figure it was too stupid or you said %$&^%((*(*(), why doesn't that guy just go do a search or something

Just kidding. Thanks alot

That's true Daveman....I was a major road warrior in the past and would drive anywhere anytime. But lately I have a few discs in my neck that are completely shot, plus some bone spurs around them that are giving me problems. They don't bother me day to day but long trips seem to aggrevate it.

I won't rule out going though either. I looked under my hood by the way and saw no paint problems.

Visit info

Kingsville web site www.kingsvilletexas.com has links to the King Ranch site as well as places to stay, things to do. It is less than 100 miles on to Mexico although going to Mexico and eating a cat poop sandwich are in a dead tie on my to do list, others may enjoy it. (Mexico, that is)

Eddie Yaklin Ford in Kingsville might even give you a discount on a can of Coca Cola.
COME ON DOWN!!

ps. Dang, those KR SuperCrews are pretty, too bad they weren't around in 1998.
pps 'bout 60 miles.

Hey logical,

Thanks for the reply. How the heck did you get into such bad shape? I thought desk jobs were supposed to be easy on a guy, right? Never mind, I forgot my desk job comes along with 10 tons of stress sittin' right on my shoulders every day, my neck problems are probably coming soon too, but I hope not.

Hey Model a,

Thanks for the link. Sounds like you have an interest too, just don't have a screw much less a KR. I'm sure if there are enough folks willin' to do this trip we would all love to have you escort us to the Ranch and show us around the area as well as join in the festivities.

King Rancher's,

Man, there must be some more or you guys out there! Are you guys just not interested or something else? At least post something so everyone else can also find out who has a KR screw.
