Oooo Crap!!
Oooo Crap!!
those were hardly the words that came out of my mouth this morrning at about 4 am. while sleeping my roomaite came in and was like, dude, you left your sun roof open, i closed it for you, but it is soaked inside! so last night i went down and tried to dry as much as possible but i could only get a little bit, and i left my truck runnin for about an hour and a half with the heat on, which helped alot. anyway, what do i do, is this really really bad for the leather, do i need to condition it to keep it from getting hard? any help would be great.
Wet leather
Get the very best leather conditioner possible (not Lexol!) and rub it in several times. King Ranch makes the leather conditioner, but having owned some very high end German cars during my long life, I would suggest Zymol. It is spendy, but I use it on my cars and on my 2005 King Ranch. It's amazing! You can get it at: www.zymol.com I even use it on our leather chairs in our Fireplace room. You gotta remember to give it several coats and make sure the leather is warm (let the truck sit in the sun or use the seat warmers if you have them) Use ONLY WHITE cotton towels or applicators. This project is going to take about 4 hours depending on how much of the leather got wet. If you get a sunny day, leave the doors WIDE open and the sun roof open and let the seats get really warm.
That's it...for what it's worth, I did the same thing to a BMW M3 and the leather still looks and feels brand new--but it did take a LOT of elbow grease.
Good luck!

If you need a quicker solution, Leather CPR is available at bed, bath, and beyond as well as other local places, so you won't have to wait for shipping. It works incredibly well also.

This is the product that I was going to recommend as well but it looks like dufunnel beat me to it...
Leather CPR is specifically designed to revitalize worn and harder leathers. It works exceedingly well, is readily available, and can be used for continued conditioning farther down the road if wanted. Also, I've used Lexol on my seats since I purchased my truck and also used it on my 01' KR. While I don't care at all for the Lexol cleaner (orange bottle), the Lexol conditioner (brown bottle) is very reasonably priced and works very well but, for your application, I'd go for the LCPR.
Mike, would the leather master product be a good choice here for revitalization on an analine leather? Did you try their 'Leather Vital' which is designed to revitalize harder leathers? I'm still eyeballing this product and have read oodles of good things about it. This will be the next product that I purchase for my Castano... thanks for the tip.
Best of luck!

Ouch! Sorry bofer, that's gotta suck! The same thing happened to my old car, except it wasn't a sunroof. A tree limb fell and broke the back windshield during a hurricane, and well the floor was soaked....
At least yours is leather though, mine was on cloth and it stank!! What are the floors made of in your KR?
