Yes...It's LEATHER time again !!
Yes...It's LEATHER time again !!
Mainly an answer for Brad actually.
Remember a week or two ago we were discussing leather care?
(Just for a change !)
I mentioned a company that sells various leather care products
http://www.liquidleather.com/
And RP asked if I had actually used the stuff.
Well I got round to some photos at the weekend but not particularly of the leather or indeed even in the KR !
My Bentley is coming up for 20 years old, and I had been debating for some time whether to change it for something more recent or even go back the other way to a 60's Cloud .
The decision was really made for me when I came across 2 Rolls Royce trained craftsmen who set themselves up in business when the dear Germans took over at Crewe !
I had never liked the dark walnut in my car so took the bull by the horns and we stripped all the woodwork out of the car and had it all re-veneered and lacquered in Burr Maple.
That spurred me to do something with the leather....the point of this post..."At last I hear them cry!"
At 20 years it was developing a nice patina but there were bits that were beginning to niggle.
Anyway the company which was referred to above sent me their "kit" after I had sent them a sample of the leather. (Taken from under a seat)
They send back a dye which is painted onto the seat and immediately wiped off.
The idea is it gets into any cracks in the leather and doesn't affect the good leather.
It can be applied to larger areas and indeed I did this to the arm-rests which really were beginning to look their age.
The kit had also included a gentle pre-cleanser and a conditioner/feed for use afterwards.
Though in fact for conditioning I use another product from Croftgate.

Anyway the picture only shows a little of the leather but perhaps you can get the idea.
the whole impact of the refinished wood and leather is enough to convince me to keep the car for another 20 years...though at that rate it will see me out !!

The picture is a place called Shipton Hall in Shropshire, one of our most attractive counties.
The place was built in the 15th century and is still in private hands.

The owner was kind enough to allow us to have a rally in his grounds and then gave us a guided tour of the house.
And here's an interesting tidbit for you lot over there....the first family that lived there....the Myttons....sent 4 children over to America on the Mayflower.
So who knows you who are reading this may just be their
descendents !

Thanks for the follow-up John. I'll have to check it out sometime (I'll add it to my wish list).
I think a gun rack in a RR would be sharp!
Now's your time John. You can start a revolution over there (points eastward). Hang a gun rack!!

I do not like the Lexol Conditioner that so many people mentioned on this site. I used it on my back seat first and It left a rough kinda nappy feel to part of the seat. I quit using this product after this initial screwup. I tried to buff the seat by hand with a diaper towel. It didn't do much to it though. I use the King Ranch conditioner and it works good for it being $9.00 a bottle. i will try out some of the other products mentioned here but I wont be going back to lexol. Sorry Guys

We've been here before !
The right side IS the correct side !!
Ask the Aussies...ask the Orientals, ask the South Africans, ask any number of Caribbean Islands.
Really...just ask anyone that matters !!!!
Anyway I really don't care as I'm ambi-driveous.
(Actually a McLaren F1 has the real answer.....it's in the middle !)

Lenny,
The seats look great, but that Burr Maple has got to be the jewel in that crown!!
It is breath taking, a very wise choice.
I got to figure out who you are? Is this a brush with greatness?
I remember you saying something about a "green Jacket" some time ago...
and now with this car and the other choices you had ?????
But reguardless, you do have fine taste in autos, and care of them.
Hats off to you.

Yeah, well the first NFL team I saw was the Bronco's in the early 70's when I was six or seven. (Orange Crush throw-back) I feel in love with them then and have never changed teams. Thick and thin, old and new, Bronco Fan, tried and true..............
After all, don't we all bleed orange???
I am a Texas Longhorn fan too.

Sorry it didn't work out for you... I think you're the first person I've heard of that simply didn't like it...
