I'm Finally a Home Owner...

It is official. I am now a home owner... well, let me rephrase... the bank is now a home owner that is holding me responsible for paying them back. HAHAHA!

We closed yesterday and have been moving stuff out to the house ever since (3-loads total in two days). I never dreamed my truck could haul so much stuff... and, for that case, I didn't have any idea that I had so much stuff. HA!

The bed extender makes all the difference in the world. Especially if you have one of those bungee net things that you can drape over all the boxes to ensure that they don't catapult out of the truck (as it is a 22 mile, one-way, trip mostly down I-265 and I-71)...

Anyways, I thought I'd share this with you all as many of you had seen pictures earlier on when it was going up...

Here's the finished product and **YES** the truck fits in the garage... it's just the angle at which the picture was taken... trust me on that one... I wouldn't have the house if the truck didn't fit. HAHAHA!

We're still on an emotional roller coaster at this point in time but, I'm sure it will settle down to a slow roar eventually. Right now, I'm stressed beyond belief with getting everything out there and put away. I'm the type that can't do a project like this with bits and pieces... it all has to be done and done to my satisfaction and thus, like I said, it's stressing me out. On the other hand, it still hasn't really set in that I'm actually a home owner. Kind of a neat thought I suppose but, it hasn't hit me yet. I'm sure it will when the first payment is due. HAHAHA!

Yeah, when we moved in about 1.5 years ago my wife took a week off. We worked into the wee hours of the morning getting stuff put together most of those days. It will settle down in a month or so. From now in it's gonna be, fix this crack, patch that hole, weed that spot, mow mow mow the lawn, this isn't right, call the builder, that aint right, call the builder again, builder didn't call back, call the builder again, etc etc etc etc.....

It's all worth it though. Anyway, I got some tile to go put in since the dog ripped up the carpet. (well, gonna work on that this week anyway. ) Enjoy!

CONGRATULATIONS ROCKPICK...Tell the wife that she got her dream home and now she needs to start making weekly payments with interest, your intersts in mind, hehehe. Well, if she's the bread winner then just reverse that last line.

Next comes all the decorations, OMG, Rock hold on to your ****.

Man, that is a nice looking place and I'm sure you'll be happy for a long time, at least 15 years.

Let me know when you get my guest room all decorated with KR stuff and I'll make plans to head up...

Later,

~DM~

Congrats RP, NICE DIGGS!

Oh, the apprehension will wear off for sure come next April 15th! And absolutely the following April....

Pooh

Edit - BTW remember to take a few minutes each day, stand in the center of your favorite room, look around and say to yourself "This is ours!" makes it worth it!

Good luck and let us know when the keg cooler and wet bar get put in so we can all come to the housewarming (I'll park my "blue" truck down the street), also I did notice just a WEE bit more grass in the yard

Homeownership is great man. Enjoy your new digs!
Room for future expansion of the toy area?
I'm thinking quad, boat, swingset perhaps??

I remember when I got my first house too, it Hit me in a way of disbelief to. That is a beautiful Home I started out in 1999 with a house that was 23 years old second lot back from Sylvan Lake Bought it for $80,000 Did $10,000 in reno's to it and sold it for $120,000.
Now to complete your life all you have to do now is fill it with KIDS.
Remember you and I are the same age another smart generation.

LMAO...

Thanks guys... I really appreciate the kind words. We're really excited... I never realized 1) how much crap I have to move and 2) how much stuff I don't have because I've lived in an apartment all my life thus, I'm throwing away all kinds of stuff and buying all kinds of stuff at the same time. Kind of weird.... Heck, I had to buy a friggin' garbage can! I just can't believe that people haven't caught onto the 'community dumpster' idea with neighborhoods. LOL!!

Mike, too funny man. Way too funny. Command central with Contour Switches everywhere and a CL Laurence power sliding deck window. LMAO... I busted out laughing when I read that.

VG, I think you're right. My wife is slowly but surely already assembling a 'honey do' list in her spare time. Shelves here, shrubs there, landscaping there, adjust this shelf... blah blah blah. I have a feeling that my truck is going to take the back burner effective IMMEDIATELY. LOL!

Pooh, weird that you say that because I stood out at the end of the driveway and looked back at 'my' house today and thought that exact thing. I just about teared up when I said it. I know that's weird and sappy and all that jazz but, this is suddenly starting to sink in... well, at least in spurts. Then again the tears could've been because I'm so friggin' tired from lack of sleep from being so excited and all this house stuff. LOL!

Pat (Blue), Right on man. Not sure the kids are in the very near future. They're on the radar screen but, if all falls into the master plan, I won't have to build a sandbox in the back yard for about... well... several years. LOL!

Chaos, hahaha... notice the lots on either side of my house? Only one has sold... if the KROC wants to pitch in several thousand, we can buy it and use it for just that. It would suit me... I'd rather not have a neighbor that friggin' close but, tis life I suppose. A little over a quarter acre is all I can do for now...

Tex, Thanks man.... I pray I don't have to contact you for that though. We've got a pretty good warranty on the house... 2 year mechanical (absolutely everything that carries anything...ie: water, air etc)... 10 year structural. They're going to come out in 6 months and fix just about anything that I can find wrong and then do that again in 1 year. Plus, one time in the next 3 years I can call them to come out and touch up spots where the house has settled and cracks have appeared plus, they'll repaint those areas. It's really not a bad gig.... but, like I said, I hope I don't need you for the HVAC stuff but, I really appreciate the offer.

Dave, heck man, you're welcome anytime. I'll soon have a Chocolate Lab roaming about and you can contend with him for garage space. I purposly kept the refrigerator box from the Kitchen Aid SuperBa that was delievered today and have already put 'D.F. HOME SWEET HOME' on the front in permanent marker (I wanted to use a ball point pen but the wife said that I should only use the best for you). It's open and waiting...

Again guys, thanks. I'll keep everyone posted on how things progress and how the move goes. Theoretically, I won't be without connectivity until Friday - Tuesday but, I'll still have access to my www connection at the office. It's going to suck not having TV or www for four days.

Hey Brad,

ConGratz on the house! You will see how much time you will have to spend on it vs. your truck! I was in the same boat about two years ago going from an apt to a house.

Just take it easy and realize that everything TAKES TIME! I thought I would have the whole house done in like six months.. LOL yeah right!

Have fun.. Oh and btw, Im still coming down for my detail with my Screw!

Later and have fun!

THANKS FW! I believe that's the one... if I'm not mistaken, Wayne's is about another 100 yards down Hwy 146 from the entry into the subdivision right? That's where I'm at...

Thanks Jag! I appreciate it man. I just hope we're 'semi-settled' very soon. This stuff is killing me... and we haven't even moved the 'heavy stuff' yet.

How deep is the Water Well and How is the water quality? .
The nice thing about the Country Life is when you wake up in the morning all you here is the birds, it is so peaceful. People like us on the forum here all seem to be quite content with our lives; We all have the best trucks made and any picture posted has been a picture showing or houses or places of business and I haven' t seen a dive yet.

We are fine people with fine things .

.

Rockpick,

I still say you need kids ASAP, Heck man were 27 all we are doing is getting old fast .

You guys have nothing to worry about, I had my first at 43 and my second at 46. The boys are now 9 and 12, and more fun every day. If I'd had them 20 years ago I would have killed them by now. I've mellowed, you will too!
