Ford is stopping selling small cars too. The market has gone towards SUVs. Not many want a car any more. So, with GM and Ford out of the picture, Honda and Toyota will be smiling even more. Maybe if GM and Ford made small cars that are as reliable as Toyotas, they would sell better. But, they don't learn it seems. That unreliable dual clutch transmission in the Fiesta and Focus killed those cars.

Yep. Everything is not only big in Texas, it spread to the whole US...
But you are right on with the Fiesta and Focus transmissions. For a simple car, they went kind of... well, extravagant. Couldn't Ford have used a regular tried and true automatic in them?! BTW: Welcome!! |
I dunno what's worse - a dual-clutch or a CVT.........
Ford is also discontinuing bigger cars. It's going to be trucks, vans, SUV's, crossovers, Mustangs, and a Focus hatchback. Gone - Taurus, Fusion, the rest of the Focuses, Fiesta, and C-Max. |
Ford's dual clutch trans biggest problem was the dry clutch getting oil on it. Volks is using a dual clutch trans but almost all of their models are wet clutches. Anyhow, for those folks who bought one of those Focus or Fiesta cars with that transmission, it is almost worthless now as a tradein or to sell. And it's a labor intensive job to replace the clutch. Maybe Ford has sorted it out by now. I hope so.
