How do you remove the panel infront of the airbag?

 

Are you referring to the airbag cover? Please elaborate.... I'm going to assume that you are talking about the airbag cover. It is attached to the airbag module. Once you have unbolted the bag unit, the cover is held in by pressure type retainers around the edges. You cannot remove the cover without the airbag unit.

Remember, before doing ANY work on airbags you must disconnect the battery before touching any bag connections, and wait 15 minutes for any remaining current to dissipate. Airbags can kill. They deserve the utmost respect when handling them.

I have a 2009 Ford F150 and I am looking to strip and repaint that passenger airbag panel as well. I can get the sides loose, but the center seems to be locked onto the airbag module. Can you please tell me how this piece comes out?

 

The panel is held onto the airbag with hooks at the top and bottom. You have to push up and back to get the panel off

 

Doesn't the airbag and the cover come out as one unit. Is held in by two bolts only or are their others?
