Thumbs up Cabin Air filtration Kit

If you can find one of these around its a good kit to install. I bought one awhile back and just installed it recently in my truck. I have noticed much less dust on the dash and trim parts since its install. It was well worth the contortions it took in the cab to get it mounted into the fan box. I wont be minding the dusty roads as much anymore now that used to create a powder all over my dash

Dealer part # is F65Z18D477AA. It supposedly fits F150, 1997-2003. Expedition/Navigator 1998-2002

Took me awhile to find someone who had one of these in stock and ended up getting it from a non Ford source who deals with OEM Ford parts and accessories.

I agree, the cabin filter is well worth the money and it keeps the cabin very clean. I replaced the filter earlier this year (1yr service) and it was rather dirty and black. I was pleased to see it was working that well. The local FORD dealer wanted $40 for a replacement filter (entire kit was only $65 when I purchased it). I went online to autobarn .com and bought a FRAM filter for under $20.00. It is identical to the OEM filter except for the hard plastic around the edge.

How far did you have to tear into the dash to install the kit and, then, replace the filter? My back objects to such contortions ever since I installed the Bulldog remote start system a couple of years ago. I ran out of back before I got the remote lock function hooked up and I just can't go back to do it... ugh!
Later,
Chiz

It wasnt too bad tearing into the dash since its from below. I removed the passenger seat after a little bit and it went alot easier. There is a trim piece just below the glove box you remove to get to the fan box held on with 3 screws. The section the filter goes in is pre grooved where it has to be cut out and that makes it easier. They give you a metal template that screws into the existing screw holes so you can cut it out without going too far. You cut the section out, remove the template, trim or file the area smooth, then install the filter. Install the supplied cover for the filter and brackets, screw it down and reinstall the trim piece.

Its a pain to cut out the piece but with a mirror on the floor and a sharp knife its pretty easy. The plastic you are cutting out is pretty thin and comes out easy after the first puncture through. The hardest part is seeing it all but like I said the mirror is a great help as well as a 7mm socket

Question about this kit

Im interested in installing the cabin air filtration in a 200 Ford Expedition. I gave the local dealer this kit number and they are telling me that it will not work in an Expedition as the air box is different between the F150 and the Exped. Does anyone here know if this holds any water or will this kit fit an expedition. I thought they were basically the same animal.
Thanks
Eric

Sorry for the delay in replies......
I think the dealer is feeding you a line. I have installed 2 of these now and both boxes have stated it fits the F150 and the Expedition models. The wording on the box and install papers states the following:

F65Z18D477AA
F150, 1997-2003. Expedition/Navigator 1998-2002

The install papers also have a pic of the Expedition on them as well as the F150.

Am trying to locate air filtration kit #F65Z18D477AA for my 2002 F-150. Can someone direct me to a parts vendor / supplier where I can purchase one? Have not had any success with local dealers. Please help. Thanks.

Was this kit ever made available for the 2004+ models? It's always baffled me they put these standard on a Taurus, but not a $30k + pickup.

Thumbs up

Has anyone with a 04+ new body tried to retrofit this kit or "fab up" a cabin filter for their truck? I had cabin filters in both my cars and love how much nasty stuff they keep from blowing in the cabin. Seeing as I'm most likely going to be moving to AZ, I want something to help keep the air in the cab clean.

I would love to get one for my 2008.
