Anyone have spyder LED taillights?
Looking at these:
Spyder Auto ALT-ON-FF15004-LED-RS Ford F150 Styleside Red/Smoke LED Tail Light
by Spyder Auto
Link: http://amzn.com/B005R4L5GC
They look pretty good, and YouTube has tons of videos from the company and they look halfway descent.
I had a set of harley lights but in my opinion they are not really an upgrade over my stock lights, barely any noticeable change in appearance.
Anyone have any first hand experience with any kind of spyder light? I am interested in both the fit, quality, and how the LEDs look.
Thanks.

Fit- meh. Chinese quality.
Quality- again meh.
LEDs are standard 5mm LEDs from china, no PWM'ing or any sort of proper controllers. They simply wire resistors straight in to dim the output. As such, when you step on the brakes, there isnt much of a difference in brightness. As can be seen here:

Pretty sure u are right, I checked the spyder website and they have some tech specs on their newer lights saying they use Philips LEDs but that's really it. No mention of where they are made.
I checked out that vid, I see what you mean.
Still trying to see if someone actually owns these for comment, the reviews for them on amazon are generally positive.
If I do plan to get these(probably will as they look great), I will purchase through amazon because they will refund if I don't like them. Can't beat that. eBay has these for $30 cheaper but I checked to make sure and the amazon ones are sold and shipped at amazon, so it's direct and I would have 30 day return policy....

I just installed these, they are awesome. Very bright, and yes there is a good distinction between brake and lights.
Only thing is I got the smoked, so the backup lights are dim, need to upgrade those later.
And these are made in Taiwan, stamped right on it. Fit was oem as well, no issues.

I just installed a pair of these on my '02 Expedition. I got the on Amazon for $158. I was running Navi taillights, but got tired of not having reverse lights, lol.
I'm not sure if this applies to all Spyder lights. But they reuse the OEM reverse lamp socket. So if you want something other than the OEM bulb for that, you have to do it separately. The fit was very good. I'd say they fit about as well as OEM. They're offered in red, dark red and smoke. Since my Expy is red, I got the red version. My only minor gripe is that they come with a pretty wide black border on them (no matter which color). I think the red ones would look better without it. But, in general, they look much better than the OEM taillights my Expy came with.
Installation was a breeze. They come with a pigtail that plugs right into the OEM bulb socket. It is directional, but not keyed. So make sure you plug it in the right way. Fortunately, getting it wrong doesn't damage them. They just don't work. Don't ask me how I know that.
In use, they are plenty bright. As another mentioned, using the brakes or turn indicators doesn't turn on additional LEDs. It just flashes the existing ones brighter. I find it easy to distinguish when the brakes or turn indicators are on, however.
I can't speak to durability, as they've been on my Expy for one day. But they seem well made. I actually stumbled across this thread looking for a matching CHMSL that uses LEDs. Good luck with your decision.
EDIT: Here is a photo. Please excuse the dirty truck.
